On page 17 it talks about how young adolescents have three tailbones fusing which is quite uncomfortable. On this page a student says that, "Sometimes when the teachers are not looking, I need to stand." This quote was fascinating because it shows how much middle school students are changing and how they might have growing pains and need to move around, even though they feel like they shouldn't. This picture is supposed to represent a child that might have grown too much to sit comfortably at a desk (even though the photo is of an adult).

“Students require a wide variety of nutrients because of rapid growth of skeletal system and other physical change.” (Page 21) BJHS has 58.2% low income students. Luckily we have Promise Council who brings in snack for students and gives to teachers to hand out. Once we had plums and students kept coming wanting them. I never would have wanted a plum in Junior High. They actually choose healthy snacks if given a choice.
