Perhaps animals pest other than rats and crows and of course best to learn about animal pest in Malaysia. If not from Malaysia, interesting examples from other country are fine with me too! Some good case studies as examples would be good too.

Well, since different animals were definite as pest in different country based on the population of the animals and the damaged they cause. Hope that through this course, i will know in differentiating what type of animals were considered as pest in that certain country, why are they pest , how the country managed this problem, by killing or can we come out another better way? And so far i know , the vertebrate pest in Malaysia included those threatening the crops and agriculture, most of them are insects. Are they more? especially in resident area or city ? so we can raise up the awareness among ourselves , and to the generation in future. In short, we learn together -^^-
This fluffy little cutie may just too adorable , yet , it still considered as the major pest in some of the Europe country. Even in a conservation center like in Langkawi, this 6-months baby raccoon already very naughty and try to scratched my bag and look for food =.= So u can imagined how the wild one can disturb the peaceful life of resident area :3

As its name suggest, I'm expecting to learn more about vertebrate pests and how to control them. So far the vertebrate pests that I know are mice and rats, pigeons, and crows. I'm pretty sure there's more. Also, how to control them "Humanely" because when I was little, my grandma would ask me to drown a rat she trapped in the river behind our house, I didn't have the heart to do it so I set the rat free at nearby rice field and was scolded after. As if that wasn't enough to drive me become traumatized, I saw my neighbour hammering newborn mice(?), until they're no longer looked like one. I swear old people can be pretty aggressive at times. Thus, I'd like to know if there's any effective but not-as-cruel control method to control vertebrate pests populations.

The pest that I hated the most is the rats, but I love the domestic ones :). I once found the echinosorex gymurus or the moonrat.

I'm not sure wether it is a pest or protected animal.I would like to know the best way that we can prevent the pest from destroying crops and household item without killing them. It is kind of evil to kill them.Hopefully can gain more knowledge than I expected.

For example we usually use pesticide (chemical) to control but can we more focus on using natural ways and save our earth and also in same time get rid off the pest.
For specific species that i have interest in is "termites" and of course "rodent". These two species very closed to domestic living and near to us. I hope this subject can give me idea how to manage termites and rodent especially for rural area and for poor people. For me small pest are very difficult to deal with because they reproduce in big number and can cost a lot of money to manage them.

The real question is can pest and vectors management become eco-friendly?

There are pest that are common and well known by human, but there are some pests that are uncommon and has been understudied. As for the vertebrates which are pest, I admit that I don't really know much about them. I am quite surprised to see some animals that do not seem like a pest is considered a pest. That is why I think this course provides me a good opportunity to know more about them, the harmful effects they bring to human and the environment and ways to manage them.

Here is the photo of me and a racoon as I was in Langkawi. I never thought that it would be called a pest. It is the same racoon that was carried by Wing Yee. Cute little thing with nasty temper I would say haha. It keep biting and scratching me as I was carrying it so I got the red marks all over my arms. But I still find it cute and interesting haha XD

I just wanted to know how far we human understand the irony
of the word pest and their ways on managing it in this course. So those animals
are being invasive, destroying crops and deteriorating our homes. Looking from
their perspective, it is the other way around. I am not trying to provoke any
sense wrong and rights of our human behaviour, instead trying to remind
ourselves we are as much as the same as them too. Cheers.

Throughout the 30 years of time being together , they build up an amazing connection between each other. They are a friend, and a family to each other. Koko even learnt almost 1000 sign languages and 2000 spoken English words, which made her become the one and only gorilla in animal history who can clearly express her feeling and thoughts to human clearly !!!!

However, till now, Koko had not been mated yet even she had two "ex-boyfriends" in the past. Their relationship just stuck at the stage of "good friends" or " siblings". But Koko very hope to have a child of hers which made her always holding doll and pretend the doll as her baby.

Through the two video provided in the web page (English version) , we can see that how happy and motherly-like of Koko when she received the baby cats from her grands as her 44 years old birthday present. And her interaction with one of my favorite and passed away movie star , Robin William is just so touching..-^^-

Sorry for too long of the description, just can't stop XD enjoy !!
