         <description><![CDATA[<div>Passed by Congress June 4, 1919</div><div>Ratified August 18, 1920<br>The women’s suffrage movement has its origins in the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848, where around three hundred activists wanted to decide strategies for achieving social and political rights for women. The first women’s suffrage organizations were created in 1869 by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton. This right caused for much debate, but was given at last. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This amendment protects the voting rights of nearly half of the population, and gives all females a voice in the government. I think that if someone if required to obey the law, they should have a say in who is making those laws. This amendment is something that affects me to this very day, and will continue to affect generations of little girls and women.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Passed by Congress January 31, 1865</div><div>Ratified December 6, 1865<br>Slavery existed in America until 1865, and this amendment was the first explicit mention of the institution of slavery. This amendment passed the House of Representatives with a vote of 119-56. Together with the 14th and 15th amendment, they worked together to establish equality for Black Americans in America. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Our Constitution is the base and foundation of the government we have today, and though it might seem unimportant, much hard work and people took part in piecing together a government. Even so, much change was needed as new amendments have been added, and those we have are constantly being changed. If anything, I learned that something that seems unacceptable and inhuman today, was just the norm a few decades ago. I found this experience extremely valuable as I was able to understand more about American history and government, but also realize that persistence and hard work are the back bone of any success story. Furthermore, I realized that right and wrong, legal and illegal, acceptable and unjust are open for us to decide </div>]]></description>
