Healing is a transformative process that requires community care, support, and resources. For folks of communities targeted by popular narratives, finding inclusive spaces that validate and provide a platform for their narratives becomes essential for initiating healing. We need spaces like sharing circles, art spaces or open mics, and support groups that are intentionally intersectional, recognizing the interconnectedness of various forms of oppression and discrimination. Platforming marginalised folks to create opportunities for individuals to share their stories, perspectives, and experiences on broader platforms is crucial.

We also need support systems that have adequate funding to ensure sustainable support and resources for the individuals.

Constitutional morality has proven to be a catalyst in paving pathways for healing communities. Constitutional morality highlights that societal views should not solely dictate the rights and freedoms of individuals or marginalised communities. Additionally, to ensure effectiveness, it's important to have a system of checks and balances and regular follow-ups in place.

Healing is a complex and ongoing process that varies for each individual. Supporting individuals from targeted communities requires a long-term commitment to challenging harmful narratives, promoting inclusivity, and working toward systemic change.

Content warning: mention of the COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic reminded us of the importance of mutual aid and how it highlights our interconnectedness and interdependence. In times of crisis, mutual aid becomes a valuable asset, showing that we cannot navigate challenges alone. For mutual aid to be sustainable, it must adapt to evolving community needs and circumstances. This means continuously assessing and adjusting strategies, programs, and services to remain relevant and effective over time.

Transparency and solidarity-building are fundamental values that contribute to a sustainable system of mutual aid.

Establishing shared goals and principles is also crucial for building a sustainable mutual aid system. Having a clear understanding and commitment among participants ensures a collective focus on well-being and addresses the specific needs of the community. By emphasizing these core elements, communities can effectively support one another through a sustainable system of mutual aid.

Yes, our institutions and society is designed to isolate us from nature and from other people.

Patriarchal societies impose norms and roles on you that you are surely not going to conform to to a T. They expect the whole of a person to be expressed as a part that the society has chosen to focus on, and decide for them. This gets even more complicated in the various intersections of the society apart from gender. When you are not allowed to live as a whole person before everyone, there is always a part of your life where you are left feeling invisible and lonely or if you choose not to conform - undesired and therefore lonely. When you add to this the complications of a neoliberal society wherein unless very privileged you have to move away from your family for education or work. Post that, you are expected to build your life around your romantic partner and the children you choose to have with them in a nuclear family setup with very little time for anyone apart from the nuclear family. A partner, parents or children can only see you as the role you play in their life. They cannot see you as anyone else.

The most important responsibility all citizens have towards their communities is to talk about their political preferences and the reasons behind it openly and frequently and also to vote in the general elections of 2024.

A person has a lot of responsibility towards their community but I believe the most important one would be to be open and honest in communication, especially about their boundaries. A lot of resentment sets in when a person’s boundaries are violated by their community members, but the community members had no idea that they were violating a boundary because it was not communicated to them. When consciously making a community for oneself, their purpose and how much one is willing to give to them must be very clear to both the person and the community members so expectations are not violated and feelings are not hurt.
