COMPARATIVES – SUPERIORITY  Hay que fijarse en la longitud del  adjetivo 

1. ADJETIVO CORTO (1 sílaba / 2  silabas y acabado en “y”) 

Se le añade –ER al adjetivo + THAN 

• Si acaba en “e” muda solo se añade  “r” (wide-wider) 

• Si acaba en 1 vocal + 1 consonante → se dobla la consonante (big-bigger than) 

• Si acaba en vocal+ consonante + “y”  → se cambia la “y” por “i” (heavy – heavier than) 

2. ADJETIVOS LARGOS = 2  SÍLABAS O MÁS 

MORE+ ADJETIVO+THAN → more  dangerous than  

3. IRREGULARES 

• Good→ better than 

• Bad→ worse than

Se siguen las mismas reglas ortográficas  que con el comparativo de superioridad. 

*–y becomes –i: example= the heaviest,  

2. ADJETIVOS LARGOS = 2  SÍLABAS O MÁS 

THE MOST + ADJETIVO + sustantivo 

Example: the most expensive pen (el bolígrafo más caro)  

4. IRREGULARES 

• Good→ the best 

• Bad→ the worst

COMPARATIVES - EQUALITY  As + adjetivo + as: (tan……como)  

Example = My mother is as tall as my  father.

COMPARATIVES - INFERIORITY less + adjetivo + than
