The black molly (Poecilia sphenops) is completely black—body, fins, eyes. The black molly is a popular live bearer fish (they give birth to their young live) in the aquarium hobby. They live primarily in freshwater streams in the wild but they can also be found in brackish coastal seawater and swamps. Although they are highly adaptable to salt water conditions, they prefer freshwater. 

Breeding

It is very easy to determine the sex of molly. Mollies have different anal fins. The female mollies have wider and slightly longer anal fins that move freely in the water while they swim. I checked the ammonia level in the aquarium before adding the black molly fish on 11/12/2022, and my aquarium water sample revealed that the ammonia level was at a safe level of 0 ppm (mg/L). 

I hope my fish enjoy swimming in this clean water!
