El Chupacabra (literally translated to "The Goat-Sucker") is a legendary creature that lives in the Americas and eats the livestock of locals. The legend of El Chupacabra comes from many places in the Americas such as Puerto Rico and Mexico. The creature supposedly will eat livestock or drink the blood of the animals, killing them. Farmers would find their animals brutally killed far from their homes and they assumed that a creature had taken their animals and eaten them. There are even reports of sighting the creature and it is described as a small hairless animal, similar to a dog or coyote. The image below has been created by an artist and depicts a small creature with sharp teeth and claws that it uses to maim and kill livestock, but this is only a depiction.

Many people believe that if El Chupacabra were to exist, the creature would look similar to the image below. Upon first seeing this image, I assumed that it was a made-up taxidermied animal by combining two other animals. Looking and comparing the image to hairless dogs makes it apparent that the image is possibly a malnourished dog that has been shaved and stuffed, or a Peruvian Hairless Dog. Has images like this one perpetuated the legend of El Chupacabra? I would think so. It is very different from folklore or stories that people may tell, because someone telling the story could provide this image to back themselves up. Although I cannot be completely sure of what is in this image, I am pretty sure it is not El Chupacabra.

When I found this image, I wondered what it was considering it did not look stuffed (taxidermy), and it looked to be a real animal (not animated or computer graphics). It seems to be compelling evidence for something, but I'm not sure that it is El Chupacabra. If this animal were seen walking around, I would definitely consider it being El Chupacabra, but I wanted to know more about this image. Searching through reverse image search on Google led me to other images of a "Shaved Bear". The other images of an similar looking animal brought me to believe that this was not an image of El Chupacabra.

This is a video describing in great detail the appearance, behaviour, and what people reported when they supposedly saw El Chupacabra. All of the evidence provided in the video is presented in a way that seems factual or true, but nearly all the points made on the appearance and behaviour were based on anecdotal evidence and was not given a proper source. All accounts of El Chupacabra seem to be mysterious or strange in nature, and no sighting is clear and concise with what normally happens with animals and livestock. I do not believe that the video provided concrete proof of El Chupacabra, but it was entertaining to watch.

Post #6 Video of an expert on urban legends gives his opinion.

This video is an urban legend "hunter" who describes three different reported sightings of the mythical El Chupacabra. He presents these examples in a skeptical manner and asks the viewers if they agree or disagree with believing in such a creature. One of the points that he brought up was how when each example was looked into further, they were either an unsolved mystery or that the animal was a canine (dog or coyote). There were even tests done on some of the "chupacabras" and they tested to be canine animals, but no one knows their origin for sure. This video shed some light on the realistically possible scenarios for El Chupacabra.

Post #7 Video of five Chupacabra sightings

This video provides little dialogue, but shows five different "El Chupacabra" sightings. They are all similar in nature, a small four-legged animal viewed across a distance with an unclear camera. Simply looking at the videos, they look like dogs, but knowing the context I understand why people assume that these dogs are different. Dogs usually are not seen shying away from people, and they usually have some fur or hair. Perhaps these are neglected strays or simply wild dogs? All of these possibilities around, but I still find it hard to believe that these sightings are of El Chupacabra itself. That seems more unlikely.

This website was created in 1996 by students at what seems to be Princeton University. It looks like a class project or something for fun. It provides information on El Chupacabra as well as news articles and stories on the creature. It is an entertaining website seeing how it was made in 1996, but I would not consider anything on the website to be contributing evidence to the creatures existence.

This is a simple website outlining the basic knowledge there is on El Chupacabra. It is targeted for children and claims that "no pictures or videos have been captured yet" of El Chupacabra, despite other websites claiming they have conclusive evidence in the form of videos or images. I do not believe that this website provides any constructive evidence, but simply an informational website on the legend.

This is a great website illustrating the history, folklore, beliefs, and evidence for argument behind El Chupacabra. It goes through all the explanations that people have provided for the animal, and concludes with what has been widely accepted as the cause of the legend. It shows images of what El Chupacabra supposedly looks like, and explains at the end that a lot of animals like coyotes and dogs have been sighted with mange (old age/malnourished), and that could possibly explain the legendary creature.
