My Spanish 5AP students have access to their novel in digital form, but can also choose to have the paper copy. I cater to each individual's preference since many of them still prefer the paper copy. Another benefit is that if the book is left at school, then the student has access to the digital version.

Once we had gone over all of the names in class, I had all students stand up, I would close my eyes, count to 10, and students would have to find a new carpet spot. I gave my first digital quiz on Canvas for Spanish 3preAP using lockdown browser.  Althought my students received immediate grades with SpeedGrader, I had to override many of their grades because of accents. I hope to improve on this for the next round of digital quizzes.

I am having students submit their lifebook paragraph's via Canvas and I use symbols to give feedback so they can fix mistakes that were made so that their writing is improved for the final project. It's immediate feedback and it's amazing how much they improve throughout the year with this system.  In the past, they turned in a physical copy of their lifebook.

I am so close to being a paperless classroom, but I feel that there are some things that I do not feel comfortable digitizing. My students have access to notes, practice worksheets, rubrics, flashcards, and other resources via Canvas. They are able to collaborate with me on these docs or with each other. For writing, I always incorporate the use of Chromebooks to allow the students choice in typing or writing their pieces. We traveled to Town Center, where they divided into four teams. They lined up by team and ran to the end of the hallway where they were prompted to correctly cite a sentence using the given information. I think it's awesome to collaborate with someone who doesn't necesarily teach/do what you do in the district.  Scott and I brainstormed ways to get more students to attend college visits.  Being next to the library, I see the attendance of students interacting with college reps.  Scott hopes that more take advantage of this resource!! Hopefully with the ideas that we chatted about, Scott & counciling dept will be able to "gamify" college visits for students!

Transformed a Multiple-choice worksheet into a maze for my students. When Dunlap seniors declare what university they are attending or their future plans, it is posted virtually for all the staff in the district to see. I've seen it where acceptance letters are placed on a bulletin board near counselors' offices. We could also place enlisting papers or job offers.  This way elementary and middle school teachers could also see where their students are going.  They could also include what they plan to study.

FiNaLlY figured out this one! Had my students make a tutorial using WeVideo & Geogebra on how to make geometric constructions of points of concurrencies of triangle segments. I tried my first online tests with Respondus this semester! It took a time or two to figure out the glitches & teacher errors, but this last Canvas Test with Lockdown Browser went perfectly, & I'm super proud to feel like I finally understand how this works--especially since we are moving towards this assessment form here at the high school!

A tradition we could start at our district for staff across buildings to meet is an annual DISTRICT wide event - in like February. When everyone's just trying to make it to break. Take an afternoon SIP day to meet people from other buildings and have some FUN as a staff. Have staff submit a "slide" with a picture on it and a brief caption of what they did over the summer.  Have the slideshow playing as we walk into the auditorium.  Play music (live band or tracks), glow sticks, have us walk through the eagle, play game shows with staff members (I remember they had a "newly wed game one year and they asked some of the married couples of the district to participate).  I have so many more ideas!! I saw this at Danville High School over the weekend. Teachers had these "get to know you posters" on their doors. As a district, we have many new teachers added to some of our bigger staffs plus new students coming in during the school year. These posters would allow for staff/students to get to know one another which would bring more connections to our staff when we saw how we things we have in common. In my opinion this game can be adapted to suit almost any level or topic. I have used this in 1st grade with just pictures of vocabulary words as well as in older grades where we may introduce or review vocabulary, draft sentences in Spanish based on pictures, or make inferences to spark discussion based on what we see. When my students submit rough drafts (which is for 95% of their writing), I have simbols to coach them to correct their grammar in Spanish. Over the years, they get used to the simbols and improve on their writing.
