This period in time for the African American race was very special as it opened the doors to many in the form of literature, art and music like blue and jazz. This change came to be named ‘The Negro Movement.’ After world war 1 and the atrocities that had been done to many of dark colored skin it had been decided it was time for a new and uprising beginning. The Great Migration this became and a few millions of African Americans left the south to start and set their new ways in the north, midwest and west. Langston Hughes, among many others who impacted many during this time, had been influenced by others like Paul Lawrence Dunbaar who was the first black poet to receive recognition, Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman. Hughes was a very important writer, he believed in telling a story not from the life he had lived but of the usual life lived by the normal person of dark colored skin. The Renaissance was a big step in the right direction for the African American race, the beginning of many things to come like better education and more chances of employment. The power of arts and literature had been modified for them and the people had become more open to having African Americans be part of written works that would end up being part of US history.
