         <description><![CDATA[<div>Learning Domain<br>Early literacy: combining both oral and written language. Children draw scribble and "read" their marks. We teach book familiarity when we engage our students with books: having them turn pages, point from left to right as we read. After we've read or taught a new word we attach real life meaning to the written word (show the printed word FISH, then a picture of a fish, then talk about their pet fish at home). Children's early literacy skills are embedded in every part of our day in pre-k and TK. Writing helps with reading and reading helps with writing. It is all connected and they are learning multiple concepts at a time.</div>]]></description>
