What Mark Twain (1835-1910) meant by the statement below: ‘I never let my schooling get in the way of my education’?

- Mark Twain argued that there are contradictions between schooling and education. Schools are not necessarily be regarded as the best educators in the society, as they may hinder our learning from our parents or peers, such as their personal experience in life. We may just learn some specific knowledge on particular subjects in school, like Geography, Physics and Biology. However, education is a much boarder methods of acquiring skills through family, media and peers, and these skills can't be obtained through schooling.

- Twain, who would receive honorary degrees from Oxford and Yale despite having no formal education beyond primary school, was characteristically self-effacing and cynical about “the self-taught man” who “seldom knows anything accurately” and “does not know a tenth of as much as he could have known if he had worked under teachers.” I think education can be the purpose, and schooling is a kind of method to reach the goal

We should not only focus on learning knowledge from schools, the social skills are important too.
educational attainment was neither an exclusive product of schools, nor guaranteed by them.
