         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Korean war lasted from 1950 to 1953 it divided at the 38th parallel after World War II and in January 1950 Stalin approved the invasion of South Korea. They was hardly any support sent into  the south basically witch was basically instalment for three years and the border did not change after the war and no nukes were used. This is important to the 20th century because the Korean war divided Korea into north and south symbolizing the larger struggle between communism and democracy</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>During the Vietnam war, the CIA killied  leader of South Vietnam and then JFK was assassinated weeks later after JFK‘s death. The US increased military involvement in Vietnam. The fighting was extreme considering the weather and that the support for war was low. In the USA  strategies got more extreme and brutal soon after Nixon came to power and he increased the involvement but then had to withdraw very quickly.  The Vietnam war had a huge impact on the 20th century. It changed US foreign policy sparked, massive protest, and shifted public opinion on war. In Vietnam, it led to economic struggles on social changes. The war effects are still felt in global politics and history today.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The USSR sent missiles to Cuba in response to their being missiles in Turkey and Italy. JFK issued a naval blockade of Cuba, so USSR ships were forced to turn around. Then the crisis came when the USSR sub almost launched nukes after brushing the blockade USA already had B-52 bomber nukes ready. The event caused a hotline to be installed between Kremlin and White House to prevent another, disaster from happening this affects the 20th century by bringing the US and the Soviet union to the edge of nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis, which heightened global tensions. This crisis led to a more aggressive US foreign policy and influence revolutionary movements in Latin America.</p>]]></description>

The Truman doctrine  was created to help these countries, resist calm communism, which was spreading through eastern Europe. Both Turkey and Greece became part of NATO, the group of countries working together to stop the Soviet unions influence. Because of where they were located, Turkey and Greece were key and protecting the west from communist expansion in the Mediterranean. The US bombed Laos heavily to try and stop supplies from reaching North Vietnam, leading to what was called the secret war  in Laos Meanwhile, Vietnam itself was in the main battleground where the communist north fought against the US backed south </p>]]></description>
