2) Jane reveals her innocence while she plays checkers with Holden. Holden says how she loved to admire the kings "in the back row," showing how she likes to keep important things protected, such as the kings. Another things to say about Jane is she is reserved and cautious for wanting to protect certain things.
3) Holden tries to hold onto his childhood for as long as he can because he goes on for a little while to tell Stradlater about how Jane and him used to play together. 2) Sunny works for Maurice as a prostitute and goes to Holden's room. She is told by Maurice to go and see Holden. Once she is inside his room, she reveals that she doesn't talk much and usually gets straight to the point with her clients. Holden tries talking to her, but she doesn't engage with him because most of her clients probably don't want to talk to her and aren't like Holden.
3) Holden is very nervous before Sunny comes and is even more nervous once she is inside his room. He tries to spark up a conversation with her because he doesn't want to be rude, but ends up not going the way he expects. Holden says he has been with numerous girls, yet has never actually done it because of issues that are supposedly the girls fault, but the incident with Sunny, shows the problem might be with him.

2) Phoebe is ten years old and Holden's little sister. Holden says she is smart, nice, and pretty. Phoebe reveals her independence because she seems to know her way around and doesn't seem like a little kid. She is also mature for her age based on how Holden describes her because she knowns pretty much everything and knows what to say and do at the right time.
3) Holden appears to have lots of hope for Phoebe and care for her dearly because she is his younger sister and only younger sibling. He like bragging about his siblings and could go on about how amazing they are, and he did so with Allie and did it with Phoebe. 2) Sally is good friends with Holden and has been friends with him for a long time. From what Holden says, she enjoys musical theater and english and is engaged in the topic most of the time. Sally may be smart to others, but for Holden he thinks she isn't because he tends to question it.
3) Holden appears to like Sally a lot, but won't admit it even though it is obvious. 2) Mr. Spencer is Holden's history teacher, but is at home because he is ill at the moment. We can infer that Mr. Spencer and Holden have a strong relationship because Mr. Spencer may have told him where he lives, unless someone else told him.
3) Mr. Spencer is Holden's favorite teacher at Pencey Prep because they have a good relationship. Before Holden leaves he wants to say goodbye and only choses to say goodbye to old Spencer. Holden enjoys talking and spending time with Mr. Spencer because he feels comfortable speaking with him. 2) Ackley is Holden's neighbor and always comes into his room to look around or spark up a conversation. He doesn't seem to have any manners because he comes in whenever he wants. He enjoys talking with Holden, even though Holden doesn't like talking with him.
3) Holden doesn't seem to care for Ashley at all because he is nosey and bothers him. Holden says he is a messy guy, has a terrible personality, and is dirty. Later on, when Stradlater is reviled he is also messy, and Holden complains about his messiness.
