Most individuals relate learning with formal education at school, college, college etc. We are all told, from an early age, that we must ‘get a great education’. Generally speaking it is true that a formal education and the resulting skills are important. Education may expand our potential to discover way better, more satisfying jobs, earn more and, maybe, ended up more effective in our chosen career. However, ‘schooling’ is only one type of learning. There are numerous other ways to further your knowledge and fulfil the abilities you wish all through life. Knowledge can be obtained and skill-sets developed anywhere – learning is unavoidable and happens all the time. However, lifelong learning is about developing and keeping up a positive attitude to learning both for individual and professional development. Lifelong learning can improve our understanding of the world around us, give us more and way better opportunities and improve our quality of life.

Studying should not be limited to your time in school. It can be anywhere, anytime, and with anyone. Keep your mind wide open.

You should always be seeking out new ways to expand your mind. Read books, practice speaking foreign languages, or take music lessons — whatever excites you most.

There is an opinion that education can be obtained only in educational institutions, and after finishing it the learning process stops. But this is far from the case, and the need for new knowledge only increases with age.

A person throughout his life learns something new, acquires new skills, learns something. Otherwise, he will not survive in the modern world.

The more a person learns and reads, and the more he is interested in new knowledge, the longer he lives. That is the scientifically proven fact.

In addition, if a person is constantly improving his level of knowledge, he is more interesting for modern companies. He is more competitive on the labor market, and his salary increases significantly.

Knowledge expands the human horizons, his worldview changes during the learning process. It helps to perceive the world, people, events from the other side. Person begins to change, and therefore his life too. So if you want a change, start learning again.

Self-study and self-development became the key words of the modern person. There are a huge number of different sources where you can get new knowledge nowadays: the Internet, bookstores, libraries, all kinds of courses, trainings, seminars. Don't be afraid to open up new horizons and expand your boundaries.

Nowadays, there is a popular statement about the necessity of learning more practical skills. In my opinion, people underestimate the importance of practical skills. There are people whose lives are broken because of the absence of practical skills. Moreover, schools usually provide too much theoretical material in comparison with practical.
There are many intellectually talented people who didn't get practical skills at school. During school time, they can solve any problem, they feel comfortable. However, when it's time to become an adult they panic and lose control. It's a basic problem of modern society. For example, statistic proves that a great number of wonderkids live not really happy. It's difficult for them to realize that majority of real-life problems cannot be solved by theoretical skills. If school paid more attention to practical skills, probably there would be more socially adapted people...
Definitely, the educational system is far from ideal. It gives too much of a theory whereas the time for doing practice is really strictly limited. In fact, our life has more practical things than theoretical ones. Actually, we more often deal with broken chairs, than with complex mathematical theorems. So, obviously, our school time should be more balanced between practical and theoretical.
To conclude, the practical education of the common public is too low for the realms of the contemporary world. I'm, personally, sure that practical skills are very important in our life, so schools should devote more time to practice.

It is believed that people should constantly learn skills throughout their lives. Self-acquired skills are especially appreciated. In my opinion, it is very difficult to gain experience only by your own labor, therefore it is valuable.
However, it is not only about practice and theory learned in school or university. The value of experience is very high in all areas of life, even in relationships between people. You can be sure that it is very easy to negotiate with someone, but when faced with a problem face to face, you will not even be able to talk to that person.
On the one hand, since from school we are taught mainly only theories, at the end of school we are lost and do not know what to do with a huge amount of knowledge. Real problems overtake a person and he already ceases to underestimate his experience or skills.
For example, the difficulty that I faced in my adult life (moving to another city and living independently) is a lack of understanding of many people. It is very difficult to find contact and understand with some people. But this is not taught in school and I could not cope with theory alone.
On the other hand, if you try to achieve skills without theory only through experience, you will not achieve anything. These are two completely compatible things, it is important to find a balance for more effective work on yourself and your life.
also, if you don't know what you want, you can waste time and lose a lot of nerves trying to achieve professional skills in any field of activity, which you will later have to forget (not use them)
In conclusion, skills will be useful throughout life, but it is just as important to understand your desires and the appropriateness of obtaining such skills. After all, the most important thing is health, both physical and mental :)
