• economically impacted - people who feel priced out and who feel conned, fell for the scam

• teachers outside of liberal bubbles - their work is changed so quickly by federal decisions (esp in rural communities, and like in Chicago teacher unions can mobilize)

• less demographics

• these folks feel/ gut feel

• unclear political analysis

• existing in different media spaces, lots of misinfo

What powerful imagery are we seeing?

• people projecting things on the back of TESLA trucks

• Luigi Mangione (not left or right, picked up by Joe Rogan)

• Maori disruption in NZ parliament

• We're being pushed around by billionaires (re: Fannie Lou Hamer's pig bank). Have conversations around local self sufficiency.

• Wanting to see more stories around what the alternative is (not sure what alternatives are).

  • If government isn't the solution (both sides are bad) then what is?

  • Collective grief that people have and how grief is a time of relearning how to live with loss.

• Helpful to show billionaires are NOT self made and flip the script. It's not hard work, it's exploitation. "Never meet your heroes." Deconstruct the illusion of how billionaires got to where they are.

What are the things we are working towards?

Once you are free from…, what are you free to?

• "Remember the future" is a phrase i learned from a previous session today

• Palestine will be free, and Palestine will never die

• Not needing to rely on Billionares and we can support each other; using tariffs as hooks to uplift gardens, co-op communities, etc. that are gaining traction

• our struggles, identities, are interconnected; it's a strategy of empathy

• we are capable of cultivating community power and self-determination outside of permission

• agency over our own lives and communities is possible (some may argue it's inevitable)

• elders are able and deserve to pass the baton *

• solidarity is not an option but necessary

• Palestine will be free

• we deserve not to only survive but to thrive

• Owner of mobile home park, gives right of refusal to people in the mobile homes. Informing the folks in that park gave agency to that community. Small things people can do to be part of the fight on a local level.

• Behavioral science & psychological inoculation used is battling manipulation. These powers are manipulating you - catches attention, builds resilience of othering. "This is what they're telling you, this is what's actually happening."

Not everyone has made the connection that the billionaires ARE the villains. Also not as clear cut to define a simple villain. Broad range of views but are maybe wrong on this one thing we're trying to change is hard to create narratives around.

• Stories that complicate the idea of villainy. What does it mean to make a narrative a villain? How do you personify that?

• suffering is just inherent to our peoples, whatever we are navigating is because of our social failings, believing that something is wrong with us

• a lot of folks question themselves, don't be afraid of our imagination

Love one another. No asterisk. Join the caring community to build a world where we are all safe

No one is safe until everyone is safe. Encouraging people to broaden their circle of care; the more folks circled around you, the safer you are. How do we make people see themselves as a part of this caring circle? Taking care to avoid narratives that center a world that many people can’t begin to see themselves in because they’re so embedded in the dominant narrative—how do we invite them in?

a lot further to making your family safe in this world. The smaller your circle of care, the less you can depend on others showing up for you if you should be under attack.
