What better way to do that than to join the army right? Charley is a very adventurous and curious boy in the beginning of the book, and towards the end he is seen as a very courageous and brave person. But Charley's only goal was powered by rage as he just wanted to kill the enemy. He loves the out doors and is a very sweet and caring person.

Russel is very curious and adventurous just like Charley, which is why Russel went with Carl to Paradise Falls. Towards the end of the movie, Russel helps Carl to fight and save his friend Kevin (a big bird). He eventually defeats the evil enemy and gets a badge of courage in the end of the film. This review was accurate because it tells of how Charley was a curious boy that thought joining the war would lead to adventure and comaradarie, but instead learns about all of the negative things from the war such as disease, and walking right into the shooting. The reviewer also states that Charley was only fighting to kill the enemy, not for any other reason, which any reader could easily understand from reading this book.
