   ~ “Yes, we have someone at dance whose family had Covid, and we needed to alter all the group dances that included Sabrina. Everyone had to relearn their competition performances, so they had to come to many extra rehearsals. We have also lost some elder friends whose life was cut short due to Covid.”

   ~ “I have had to limit visits to stores to minimize risk. I use sterilized wipes for everything I touch and always stand back from others in line in grocery aisles. It makes our world more isolated, less friendly.”

   ~ “I am relieved. I feel like it is the first step towards having our normal reality back.  We are not there yet but at least feel like we have a chance of getting there.”

I started out by making a blanket by myself, however, I never officially completed it. It is long enough, but I never tied the knot at the end. Another project that I never finished was an art project where I stuck jewels onto little sticky circles of certain colors to create a jewel artwork. I got about half way through, until I got bored and tired of trying to complete. I had many of these unfinished projects because I always found myself getting bored with it. Perhaps that was one of the problems with quarantine. I had to find things to do, but when I was only doing one thing, I was unable to complete it. One thing that I am extremely proud of during quarantine, is my room redecoration! I am almost done with it now, but I completely changed my room. I had mismatched, unaesthetic pieces in my room, but now, it is a cohesive room with an aesthetic that I absolutely love. I changed my bed, covers, chair, layout, colors, dresser, nightstand, and more! Basically, everyone told me to not worry about it. Therefore, I assumed that it would just pass over. I made sure to wash my hands for twenty seconds and all that jazz, but eventually, we ended up going home. I was actually really excited to go home and get a “two week spring break!” But no, we ended up in lock down. Online school wasn’t actually that bad. I enjoyed getting the “off days” where we had personal days to do our own work. Sometimes, however, the work felt so long and I had no motivation to do anything. We were assigned tons of projects/work to do in each class, and we were all SO overwhelmed. Once we had all expressed our aggravations, the teachers had lightened up a little, which was a relief. On the “off days,” there were extra help sessions that the teachers offered. I usually didn’t need help, but I enjoyed talking to some of the teachers. I used to talk for almost an hour to Mrs. Cabrera or Mrs. Porges. The actual school days seemed pretty short, but after school, I usually still had work. I danced on zoom after school as well, which was pretty strange at the beginning. Dance online was pretty isolating and kind of lonely. One part of dance that I loved was the interaction and the fact that we were dancing together. I was so happy once we got to go back to the studio, but we always had to stay on spots, clean the floors and bars in between classes, and sanitize between every room. Seventh grade Sabrina was definitely a not so great phase. She was awkward, obsessed with purple, and decided that gelling her hair back in a slick little pony tail sprout was a good idea. She was definitely something. I’m actually quite happy that quarantine happened for this reason, because who knows what would happen if seventh grade Sabrina turned into an even worse eighth grade one. I feel like an entirely different person. Honestly, I’ve matured and grown as a person. My stress levels, anxiety, and time management were pretty bad too. I have become a better, more sophisticated person who stops worrying about every single word that has left my mouth. It’s honestly funny to me that a year ago, I was in my room playing roblox or something. I am so happy about how I have created new friends and am just a more adventurous, less annoying person (hahah). Covid gave me time to myself to truly develop as a person on my own, which actually is better than everyone watching all the time anyway.
