  • Bacteria Streptobacillus moniliformis found in North America
  • Bacteria Spirillum minus found in Asia 
    • These bacteria are found in the mouth and nose of rodents 
  • The environmental conditions of these areas do not really have an effect because rats will already have this bacteria.
  • However places, like streets, that are unsanitary, have a higher amount of rats that could potentially put humans in danger of rat-bite fever.
  • The disease from a bite of a rat has been known in India for over 2,000 years. But has been more commonly known as rat-bite fever.
