The most challenging thing for me when doing library research is finding information from various sources. I have found a journal strictly for pediatric oncology and they have so much that relates to my topic, but I also want to use another source to get some other outlooks on this topic. I am also finding more qualitative articles due to the nature of my question, so I am continuing to look for valid quantitative articles that relate directly to my topic.

Evidence-based practice is all about the most current information that is to be shared with health care professionals in order for them to implement new practices. It is best to use articles written within the last five years because the results are up to date.

METHODS TO BROADEN: If I need to broaden my topic or if I am not finding enough articles that address what I am searching for, I go to another library that has access to a different database. I also conduct my searches using different databases.

CURRENT ARTICLES: The more current/newer the article, the more likely it is to contain up-to-date/current information that is reflective of the current research. This latest/newest research, if published, is accepted and proven to be useful and work best in each patient scenario.

It is important to use articles that have been published within the last five years because you want the most up to date studies to back up your research topic. Articles that are older than five years are out to date and there could be new data out there.
