* Tutors have built in some pastoral time in theory sessions for the part time groups which has made an impact, this is reflected in retention and achievement. We feel that it will improve further next year due to having an allocated slot for tutorials on timetables
* Attendance has improved due to dedicating certain units to each term that had to be completed, this has helped to keep the learners more focused and on track
* Progress and tracking has improved and the result of this has been more early finishers than previous years
* Having a Thursday evening commercial session every week has been successful and has had a constant stream of clients every week wanting to book in which has helped the level 3 learners complete all of their assessments in a timely fashion

* WEX hasn't been successful this year due to learners not being able to find a placement or even how to go about finding one due to lack of confidence in approaching them. WEX requires someone to source the placements and guide the learners in regards to how to communicate with employers over the phone and what to expect when their out there, maybe a crib sheet or guide. WEX booklet needs to be revised to be more user friendly for the learners and available at the start of the year to also include a medical form
* Medical forms to be handed out at enrolment for learners to complete along with parent/ guardian signature and handed back to tutors in induction week
* Directed study needs to be more specific to each level and something that is useful to the learners i.e. level 3 learners to complete packages on job sites i.e.
U-explore as this site logs the amount of hours spent on it. Level 1's to work on packages that develop them as a person i.e social skills and level 2's to work on CVs, job interview scenarios and communication skills i.e. Barclays workskills. Completing BKSB topics felt like a time filler, learners felt they were not being rewarded for getting good grades in M&E to be able to be exempt from these classes as they had to continue working on M&E
* With the admissions process, we did not have any contact with new learners until induction week. Being able to have contact with them prior to this should help with creating a smoother transition i.e. we have started 'trade testing' learners who are progressing onto level 3 as well as giving them an assignment to research and hand in. Although we will not see the results of this until next year and has given the progression route more credibility
* The client base for level 1 and level 2 courses has been very poor which has resulted in learners struggling to complete assessments
