Q: I am a new student in your class and I’m concerned about the live classes. I work full time and my schedule varies so how would I be able to join in them?

A: It is tough finding a time for Live Classroom with the number of students with different schedules (night shifts, morning shifts, 2nd shift, family activities etc...). So students receive points by submitting answers to the questions that are embedded in the Live Classroom sessions. A student who comes to the Live Classroom at the scheduled time do NOT automatically receive points. Students must submit the answers from the Live Classroom session. So if you can't make the Live Classroom session a recording link is provided and students receive FULL points for submitting the answers to the questions.

Q: I am a little confused about how the class module ends? Do I only have a week to complete all 6 modules or is it due at your own reasonable pace? I looked on the Calendar but that seemed to confuse me more.

A: This course started Monday, July 6, 2020 and your written assignments are due by Sunday at midnight CST. Your initial discussion post are due by Tuesdays and final discussion post are due by Saturday at midnight. Below is a quick snapshot of how it works -- keep in mind you are in TERM 1! The course calendar reflects this! Always email me directly for immediate questions.

Your written assignments, quizzes and exams are due based on the following guidelines and depend on the when you have started your course. Please refer to the information below, all times listed are Central Standard Time:

Course Type | Week 01 – Week 05 | Final Week
*Term 1 (5.5 weeks) | Sunday midnight | Last Day of Class
*Term 2 (5.5 weeks) | Sunday Midnight | Last Day of Class

*Term 1 starts are in July, October, January and April
*Term 2 starts are in August, November, February and May

Weekly Discussions

Your discussion forum posts are due based on the following guidelines and depend on when you have started your course. Please refer to the information below, all times listed are Central Standard Time:

Course Type | Week 01 Initial Post Due Date | Week 01 Reply Post Due Date | Weeks 02 - 05 Initial Post Due Date | Weeks 02-05 Reply Post Due Date | Final Week Initial and Reply Post Due
*Term 1 (5.5 weeks ) | Tuesday midnight | Saturday midnight | Tuesday Midnight | Saturday Midnight | Last Day of Class
*Term 2 (5.5 weeks) | Saturday midnight | Saturday midnight | Tuesday Midnight | Saturday Midnight | Last Day of Class

Q: As I look over the readings for the course schedule, I was wondering if the information will always be highlighted based on what we need to read or what activity we need to complete by the due date. By this I mean for the reading highlighted today it says "Early Childhood Development: From Theory to Practice" and it provides a link to that section I was just wondering if it will always just be a link, or is it found on another portion of the course website. I was also wondering do we complete one reading every week or do we complete all the readings when ever before the end of the course?

A: You can locate your readings in the "Lesson Content" tab and yes there is link to the reading. But you can also read your textbook information by going to the eText - Early Development: From Theory to Practice link located under the syllabus. But the Lesson Content tab has not only the eText chapter reading but the articles and other readings for that week.

You can locate the ALL assignments for a module under the "Assignment" tab.

All the modules are open for the course so you can if you wish work ahead but you will always want to complete the "required" work for that particular week but you can move ahead. In an effort to help online students manage and plan time, the College is making all module content in our Summer 17 term 2 courses in the Blackboard Learn Learning Management System visible.*This adjustment to visibility of module material does not change the weekly due date requirements and pacing of the course you are expected to follow. Assignments should be turned in the week assignments are due.
