Jacob Riis was a Reformer for poverty and he took pictures of people in poverty and showed them to the people that are in higher class. Jacob riis helped because when he showed those pictures to the higher class people they started to help more and started to give donations to the people.

Now poverty in the U.S can be caused by low money, alcohol and low pay. poverty can cause living in dangerous places like broken apartments and tents. some of the dangerous stuff can cause fires. people in poverty also have low access to food because of low money. it can also cause them to starve.

The problem then was that people in poverty lived in places like apartments in big groups with objects close together. This was dangerous because stuff like fires could happen with stuff close together.
