Another important discovery is DNA. Many people believe that American biologist James Watson and English physicist Francis Crick discovered DNA in the 1950’s, but in fact, it was first identified in the late 1860’s by Swiss chemist Friedrich Miescher. Then, in the decades following Miescher’s discovery, other scientists carried out many research studies that helped us understand how organisms pass on their genes and how the workings of cells are governed.

I think the most important discovery is biology, because whithout it medicine would not be founded. Biology is the natural science that involves the study of life and living organisms. The basics of modern biology consist of 5 rules: cell theory, evolution, gene theory, energy and homeostasis.

Archaeology
Archaeology is the science of archaeological heritage and the development of society. This branch of science is closely related to history. Without our world history, scientists would not have created such many inventions. People would not know their origins, the ancients, and most of the things.

In search of fame and fortune, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan set out from Spain in 1519 with a fleet of five ships to discover a western sea route to the Spice Islands. He was the first European who became cross the Pacific Ocean. The voyage was long and dangerous, and only one ship returned home three years later. .
