It requires the students take the world as an integrated community and take himself as a member inside, more importantly, inside this community, they must have a strong sense of responsibility to develop himself, to collaborate with others rather than ego-focusing, for better understanding about the complexity and diversity inside the community, for further promoting the global community toward better vision.

How do schools today prepare students for global citizenship within biology and other group 4 subjects?

As school today, no matter biology and other class, they have a more diverse student background, which makes demand for better understanding and respect for diversity. Within Biology and other group 4 subject, we all promote the collaboration between these students with diverse viewpoint, different academic background, for example, we have science fair every year and project-presentation, and encourage student to observe the presentations from different groups and disciplines. During these, they can find solutions to better communication and amazing creativity. The science subjects also emphasize the Nature of science, the context are gradually unfolded to explain the world and illustrate the wisdom of creative and critical thinking, the spirit and method to do exploration, the understanding about the related ethical issued, all of these can promote the culture of IB learner profile which is highly critical to the culture of global citizenship.

In my science subject, I feel like that its most fact based knowledge do not that benefit from the communities, cultures and nationalities, which I think I just lack sense to do so till now. However, I observed that the group discussion between different students can help them modify their concepts, and understand behaviors in the science research and technology development, and further help them develop their own view, maybe that’s the way to help our teaching and learning process.

How can you help your students understand the importance of international understanding as it relates to your course?

From the development of science and any benefit from the scientific research, I always guide the students realize the collaboration between so many scientists from different nation, with different cultural and academic background, guide them to understand what’s the value of accumulation and competition between so many research groups, without international understanding, these success would not have obtained. so International understanding is the basis for you to realize your dream, and it has put forward higher and higher requirements to you in the future you meet, also, more importantly, the international understanding can sometimes tell them why, when, how their task or desire can be done or just should not be done, they need an international ethical standard for their behavior, which is vital for their self-fulfillment.
