To gain more knowledge on developmental psychology so that I am able to better meet their needs!

I will need to explore digital literacy to improve in that area.

As a coursework teacher, I find that I constantly need to figure out ways/methods to facilitate students’ creative thinking processes & encouraging them to capture it on their e-visual journals.

I would like to focus on both designer & facilitator of learning as the nature of my subject relies heavily on the way I scaffold the learning points/activities where they not only pick up the mastery of technical skills but also inculcating the habit of meaning making in their works.

Currently, I find the role of Student Mentor closest to my current day-to-day experience as a teacher. Having served only three years, I am admittedly still building my pedagogical expertise. However, the one area I am most comfortable with is in listening to my students and even playing the role of guidance counsellor at times. Sometimes, I find myself playing the role of ‘older sister’, listening to them and offering advice when they seek them.

Extend/Challenge:

As I am approaching my fourth year, I would like to embrace my role of Designer of Learning am truthfully excited to use the information shared by MOE/CCPD and curating it for my students. There’s a certain level of trust and confidence that I have to exercise to say that I am willing and able to customise the learning materials for my students because I know them best!

Extend / Challenge: I would like to focus more on the Designer of Learning. As the students' profile quite different, and the challenge which students face are compliable, with good practice in designing of the learning, we can facilitate the learning better.

Challenge: To be designer of learning so that I am ever ready for the ever-changing learning landscape and to craft out purposeful learning tasks for students and be a stronger anchor for them.

I would like to focus the above areas and students mentor in my professional development.

Challenge: Designer of Learning

● design lessons that are engaging and relevant to the students' lived experiences

● deliver lesson clearly, develop my ability to explain one concept in a variety of ways to meet different student needs.

I would like to focus more on facilitator of learning for my PD, as I find it the most challenging, given my personality. Being a facilitator means that as a teacher, I have to acknowledge and accept that I do not have full and complete control of the learning experience in the classroom in order to accommodate to the different learning styles and paces. The students will grow at different paces. Along with different pedagogies like differentiated learning to enhance such varied learning experiences, there are many different possible permutations that can happen for the same lesson. While the students may have a more enriching learning experience, the lack of control is terrifying and will be an area for improvement for me.

As a coursework teacher, this resonates the most with me. We become facilitators to provide students with the autonomy to explore and participate in their own learning. This also provides students opportunities to build attributes of a self-directed learner: responsibility and self-motivation to complete tasks given.

I would like to evolve and develop new methods of teaching using new ICT tools, creating a more inclusive and engaging learning environment based on our students' learning needs and interests.

Extend: I would like to learn more on the various pedagogies in order to be an effective Designer of Learning.

I would like to be a effective facilitator of learning as I do not want to just impart knowledge in a didatic manner but rather motivate and encourage their own learning. This requires me to continually learn and adapt in my subject field as well as in the roles that I play.
