In the South Pacific Ocean between French Polynesia and American Samoa. There are 15 major islands spread over 2.2 million km² of ocean, which are divided into two distinct groups: the Southern Cook Islands and the Northern Cook Islands of coral atolls.

Cook Islanders are mostly Polynesian people. Three languages are spoken here which are Maori, English and Pukapukan (English is the most well known language). Generous, religious, and conservative people.

-Constitution of Cook Islands took effect on August 4, 1965. This is celebrated on constitution day which consists of week long activities.

Economy

-Severe trade imbalance (their imports heavily outweigh their exports)

-exports: pearls, fruits and vegetables, clothing, fish (and other seafood)

-most food is usually imported and markets are usually empty

-future wealth may come from undersea deposits of cobalt, nickel, and copper

-The currency here is the New Zealand Dollar; however, they also use their own distinctive notes and coins.
