When it comes to creating a positive classroom climate it is very important for the students to be able to work together and learn from one another. I have been able to use strategies as described in the video to see what students know and how they work together. In many cases, you are able to pair a higher student with a lower student which helps in numerous ways. The students are able to hear what their partner thinks, someone who is their own age, which may help them to better comprehend the lesson rather than hearing it from the teacher. Being able to communicate and be comfortable with their peers, in my opinion, is a big part of classroom climate and their overall success.

This video shows a third grade teacher in how she manages her classroom. She says that it is important for the students to feel safe in the classroom and to have a say in expectations in order to take responsibility. I agree with this teacher and her climate strategies. Students need to feel safe with not only the teacher, but their peers in order to be a learner. I also think that allowing the students to have a say in the classroom expectations and rules really helps with management. They are able to be more responsible for their own actions because they were a part in making the rules. I have seen this done in many classrooms in different ways. The idea of creating a classroom contract is something I plan to take into my future classroom with me. My students will be able to help come up with expectations as a class and then sign the contract showing me they are dedicated to being apart of my classroom. I like how in the video the teacher talks about stopping to have a conversation when the contract is broken about whether or not the action helps or hinders the student learning. Having an open conversation may help them see how their choices affect themselves and others. This type of classroom climate is beneficial for all students.

This article is about how to create and maintain a culturally responsive classroom. It discusses how to remove our cultural biases and how to create an atmosphere of learning for students of different cultures. I think that although we may not realize it, we most likely do have some sort of cultural biases. This article suggests learning about other cultures in order to better understand the students you may have in your career. The article also gives plenty of other strategies in how to make students of different cultures feel welcome in the classroom, such as creating banners, having maps, and discussing different cultures and their traditions as a class.

This article really dives into the different types of diversity in the classroom. It also discusses how the classroom climate starts with the teacher. We have to be willing to self reflect and be a learner ourselves in order to be a successful teacher. This is always important to remember that we too are in control of our actions and how we maintain ourselves in the classroom. We have to be that positive role model for our students. The article also talks about how to handle difficult situations in the classroom, especially when rules are broken. Part of the classroom climate is creating the rules and the other side of that is enforcing those rules. Being strict is often challenging for me so reading how to handle situations is extremely helpful.

This Mind Map really brings all of my sources together into one central location. I think that creating a positive classroom environment starts with the teacher. We need to be mindful of our biases and be willing to learn about all the different types of diversities amongst our students. I also showed my thinking in regards to the students role in the classroom climate. Their job is to be a learner themselves but to also be willing to help their peers learn. One of the most important aspects of the classroom for both the teacher and the students is to be accepting to all differences in the classroom.

This video gets to the heart of the problem when it comes to teaching multiple cultures. Although this video focuses on race, which is one of many diversities in the classroom, I think the message is important all the same. We as teachers carry our lives with us into the classroom. Our experiences shape how we interact with our students and how we teach. I strive to be the teacher that doesn't only see the disability, the color, or the struggles of my students, but the teacher who isn't afraid to have those tough conservations and to see my students and their potential and to focus on their successes.
