I returned as a mentor because I wanted to have my last year hold those memories. It would be really hard to imagine my ACU experience without C2U so why not do it for one more year🤭🤭

During the mentoring program, I met lots of new people, which I enjoyed. I felt as though my social skills developed and I enjoyed talking and see my mentee every week. I feel like I developed my interpersonal and social skills, and I look forward to doing mentoring again in the future.

Great opportunity to meet interesting fellow students and colleagues. Love the involvement in all the activities. Gives me a way to grow as a person with fun along the way.

I wanted to be a mentor because when I wanted to connect with people. I have met the most amazing group of people this year. I tend to be anxious when I talk to people and being a mentor helped me overcome that. It was AMAZINGGGG!!!!!

I wanted to be a mentor because I know how confusing first year of Uni can be. I’m glad I did it because I met a lot of interesting people. It was a super rewarding experience!

I think my social skills have improved through this.

I wanted to become a mentor because I really wanted to learn and improve in my skills in effective communication and interpersonal skills. Before mentoring I always felt really nervous to approach people and write emails but I now feel much more confident in doing these things.

Being a mentor is fun and fulfilling. I’ve been able to meet mentors and mentees from other courses which has reinforced a sense a community. It’s so lovely seeing everyone around campus! I think I’ve developed my communication and academic skills most this semester. The weekly PowerPoints aren’t just helpful for our mentees!

I wanted to return as a mentor because I love the experience of interacting and meeting new people. It gave me another opportunity to talk to people outside of my cohort which was really nice.

I felt like I did end up achieving this! As I’m on campus often it was very common for me to stop by other mentor’s pop up stalls and say hello. (Also I just thought this cat image was really funny)

I became a mentor because I wanted to help support students starting university. I wanted to help make it a really good experience for everyone. It was so good to get to meet so many students and to answer their questions. I think that it is really valuable to have students supporting students in this way. It would be great to continue in this role next semester.

I remember the support I received from them as an international student. I wanted to offer the same to new students because starting uni can be very stressful especially when you have to figure out everything by yourself. The students looked relieved when they received solutions from us and i was happy to help.

i wanted to become a mentor after doing a similar job last year where i supported VCE students. being a mentor was just as fulfilling as i was able to help students who were in the same position i once was when i started uni and provide tips ive learnt along the way! one skill ive developed most is communication - i have always been a bit reserved at first when meeting someone so mentoring has helped me learn how to approach and start conversations first :)

I chose to return as a mentor because I always find the program so rewarding. I love seeing students feeling more confident about navigating uni life and it’s great that students can feel comfortable to ask their questions in a supportive space. I think I’ve developed my communication skills by meeting so many new people. I have really loved being involved in the mentoring program!

I wanted to become a mentor to help students feel more comfortable as well as support them through the transition as it can be a bit of an adjustment. I think I did achieve this, even through the little things such as being an active listener, providing study timetables and helpful advice. A quality that I have been developing and still am, would be my communication and academic skills.
