Radios were sold in the United States for the first time in 1920. The average radio nearing the mid of the decade was around $35, but higher quality radios could be as much as $350. In one decade (10 years), more than 5 million battery-packed radios were sold. These radios could broadcast news, serial stories, and political speeches. These radios were the base of our radio today, and without them the modern radio could be totally different / non existent. That would mean no news, no music, etc.

Movies were pretty popular at this time. The most famous movie of the year 1920 was "Way Down East" which was distributed by United Artists. Some other famous movies at the time were Wizard Oz, The Golem, Faust, Girl Shy, and many more. The technology of these movies kept spiraling to become the movies we all know and love today. They started as grainy, gray short films, and now are colorful, clear hour long stories with so much life and character.

1920 was the jazz music industries raise of interest. Jazz started to be discovered and made by far more than just African Americans, and everyone was loving the music. It defined the generation and caused a sense of modernness to the American culture. Jazz is still around today and many folks / citizens love it to today. Some of the most famous jazz musicians back then were Louis Armstrong, Fletcher Henderson, and Sidney Bechet. As far as today goes, some jazz artists today would be Norah Jones, Boney James, and Norman Brown.

In the 1920's, assembly lines were used to reduce labor, and keep the process moving. Today, we have stuff similar to this, but it's almost all machines. We have far more advanced technology now, and there's rarely people actually constructing things when they can just create a machine to do the work for them.

The Prohibition banned the sale and import of alcoholic beverages from 1920-1933. This clearly is not going on today as it states how this was only a 13 year long law. Alcohol is now a very common thing, and many adults can be addicted. Nearly everywhere is selling and / or producing some form of alcohol, and it is imported pretty much daily.
