1. Xbox One

2. Graphical Design Interface

3. The user uses a Xbox one controller, to navigate through the menu. The menu consists of many applications like Games, Settings, Friends list, Gamepass, Store, and a live streaming app called mixer. Many other applications can be purchased or downloaded from the store to add onto your interface.

4. A good, sleek, and clean design, reduces distractions for the user, and does not provide them with any unnecessary information.

5. The design is also very complicated, it provides the user with unnecessary advertisements for the Mixer platform and advertisements for their Gamepass even though the user already pays 60 dollars a year just to be on the platform, they are bombarded with useless advertisements.

6. Microsoft could allow the user the manage what apps they want on screen, and also remove advertisements for games if they would like them to. Users would also like an option to disable the live streaming app Mixer from being on the homepage also.

1. PS4

2. GUI

3. The user uses the controller to navigate through two rows one has games and apps, the other has your friends list, notifications, messages, party, settings, and your profile. They can also hold down the PS button to open a sidebar on the left side of the screen that has these same items.

4. Easy to use, not a lot on the screen at one time, different areas depending on what you are trying to do, you can turn off notifications if you do not want to be bothered.

5. It doesn’t pick up your voice very well, so it is hard to voice control it. You can’t favorite games, so it shows you whatever you recently played.

6.Make it to where you can favorite games so that they show up first in your game lineup. Make a favorite friends list so that you can invite the people you normally play with easier.

Super Mario Bros.

Graphical User Interface

The question-marked boxes indicate that there is an item inside (Mushroom, coin, star or flower), you can defeat enemies by jumping on them (except turtles, they can be used as a weapon but can still hurt you), pipes can lead to secret entrances and when you have a flower, Mario can turn either red or blue to indicate that he has a fire or ice power, etc.

Design principles that motivate me would be the simplicity of the game, there’s no unnecessary information given out to you.

Design principles that demotivate me would be the reuse principle just because almost all the boss battles are the same and you use the same strategy to beat them, also saving Princess Peach every game gets annoying after a while.

Suggestions for improving the interface would be to subvert users’ expectations and give Princess Peach something to do instead of being captured all the time, maybe have a Mario game based on Bowsers’ perspective.

1. Battle.net Launcher
2. Graphical User Interface
3. Electronic devices such as graphical icons and indicators
4. The designs that motivate me is the simple aspects of it, anyone can understand it. The icons is just the logo of the game with the title under it; the tabs on the top are simple such as SHOP, NEWS, ESPORTS and so on.
5. What demotivates me is the lack of ease to open one's friends list and other options involving one's profile.
6. Instead of having a drop down menu for the profile have a column down the side spelling out the different options that open small tabs that can be closed by clicking it again, instead of opening new windows within the program.
