Our purpose of our trip was to learn about plankton and the information we had gotten from this research would be used to see the change in our marine protected areas and oceans. Also to learn how important biodiversity is beneficial to our world and that protecting our oceans is very important as well.

In the beginning of our trip we saw whales breaching and swimming past us. We also saw the plankton we had caught using a microscope. We identified the plankton we saw and took pictures of them. We also saw the sandy beaches and expensive houses near the coast. Also many seabirds like seagulls and pelicans. Lastly, the most important thing we saw was how scientist work to change our world and protect our oceans.

In the beginning of the trip we watched whales swimming near us. Later during the trip, after we watched some whales, we tossed nets overboard to catch plankton. After about seven minutes, we brought the nets back in and drained the plankton out to a cup. After that we lowered securdisc into the sea to see how deep they can go down until we can't see them anymore. In the end, we used microscopes to identify types of plankton we caught.
