         <description><![CDATA[<div>Land and water temperature change at different rates will cause instability and atmospheric pressure (Franklin, Clint). A change in pressure causes wind, wind is what determines the wet vs. dry seasons. During the summer season, the land is much warmer and warms more rapidly than the Indian Ocean which stays relatively cool (Franklin, Clint). As a result, warmer air will begin to rise associate with a low-pressure system that is over the Asian continent. The conditions of cooling over the ocean begin to fall, creating conditions that are associated with higher pressures. Because wind always blows from high pressure to low, during the summer, the winds will blow from sea to land adding moisture into the atmosphere over Asia causing rain fall (Franklin, Clint). During the winter, this process is reverse; when colder air is present over Asia, high pressure occurs over the continent but due to the ocean being relatively warmer, the ocean will create rising air that created low-pressure that will dominate (Franklin, Clint). This condition will cause land to sea wind patterns creating lack of moisture and little precipitation (Franklin, Clint).<br>&nbsp;Less precipitation can lead to prolonged drought and the reserve or increased precipitation leading to devastating flooding (Franklin, Clint).&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;(View Figure 1)<br><br></div>]]></description>

The difference in severity depends on how close they are to the equator, the open sea such as the Indian Ocean (Figure 2) and if there is a presence or absence of mountains and mountain chains. Monsoons will start approximately in May and last until October/November depending on the above factors (Asienreisender).</strong></div>]]></description>
