"Although I have learned many printing methods, bookmaking is completely unfamiliar to me. Last semester, I had a plan to create a children's picture book, so I want to gain more inspiration through this bookmaking workshop. The ancient craft of handmade bookmaking involves using needles and thread to weave the paper together, a process that machines cannot replicate. If I need to create a book, I should consider many things during the image preparation stage, such as how the paper should be folded and how the cover should be arranged. I never thought about these questions before. This workshop learning experience is an important reminder for me."

These are the leftover materials from the last project I worked on, making pop-up books. They look quite neat and organized. I realized they could be used to create some prints. By combining these shapes, I could produce a complete printed piece. Luckily, I had black printing ink on hand, and I used dish sponges for printing. The result was very satisfying. Next, I plan to use this simple printing method to create more artwork.

🇪🇬 Hurghada, Red Sea

This is a photo I took while traveling in Hurghada, Egypt, along the Red Sea. The Red Sea is incredibly beautiful, one of the most stunning oceans I've ever seen. Its waters are so clear that you can see everything underneath, including ropes tethering boats and tires drifting aimlessly along the water's edge. I found this scene reminiscent of an art installation. The Red Sea has a high salinity level and strong corrosive properties, giving all objects submerged in its waters a unique texture under the sea's corrosive influence.

In my view, this project is particularly unique. We are tasked with transitioning from a student mindset to that of a professional artist and carefully considering our future career direction. Although I am currently unclear about what exactly we are meant to accomplish, I am still excited about the work we will undertake.

Since December, I have been persistently job hunting, yet the results have been far from satisfactory. I've realized there's a stark contrast between reality and my expectations, and opportunities aren't as abundant as I had imagined. I've been hoping to secure a summer internship, but despite thorough research and numerous resume revisions, my applications have consistently gone unanswered. I lack the skills that companies require, and the skills I've acquired in school don't seem to match their needs. I've come to understand how challenging it is to meet society's expectations and demands, a dilemma everyone must face. Therefore, in this project, I will focus on researching market demands and what it takes to attain a respectable social status. I'll conduct comprehensive investigations into the requirements and preferences of my target companies and produce a concise portfolio for job applications.

After referencing professional graphic design books, I have designed this poster. The stacked plastic bags resemble a massive floating iceberg. Due to the abundance of similar designs, I intend to create this piece entirely in a flat style and complete it in monochrome printing. The embossed traces of plastic bags are the printing effect I want to experiment with. Although I plan to primarily work on this project electronically, I've discovered that the visual effects of traditional printing may be irreplaceable by electronic means during the process

With great pressure and anticipation, I embarked on learning Blender modeling. I chose a comprehensive tutorial and started crafting a donut model while experimenting with rendering. I must say, the process was time-consuming and challenging. Nonetheless, I managed to complete it. The frosting part was a digital model. Blender turned out to be much more difficult than I had imagined—every misstep led to another. However, later on, I realized I could utilize school resources by using the computers in the electronic studio, which significantly smoothed the process. Though the donut wasn't a success, it solidified my confidence and determination to create using Blender.
