My Grandpa was a Staff Sergeant for the US Marine Corps. On Veteran's Day, we would always call him and thank him for his service. We did the same thing for Memorial Day.

USMC vet, I always make it a point to check in on my brothers and sisters. Sometimes reaching out can have a huge impact on peoples lives.

Shunned and forgotten Vietnam Vets deserve Love

We occasionally have the honor of providing care to aging vets who served in Vietnam and many of whom returned with PTSD and other social determinant challenges. It can help to connect them to the stories of ancestors and to feel part of a history that includes redemption and healing.

Willing to sacrifice

When veterans recount the love and extreme loyalty between themselves and their comrades, this models one of the highest qualities of human potential: willingness to sacrifice one's life to save others. This inspires me greatly.

My grandfather participated as a member of Azad Hind Fauz and fought in Indian Independence war in 1947 against the British. He was imprisoned before the war and he had narrated us his stories with immense pride. Our family is very proud of him too. We remember him on this day.
