Question 1, working with parents.

-parents are the key to finding out about children’s dietary requirements. they can let you know wether the foods their child can’t eat are preferences, a mild allergy, a severe allergy or religious reasons etc. it’s important to know why the child can’t have certain foods.

Question 2, role of the EYP meeting children’s dietary needs.

-the EYP needs to know every child’s food requirements and keep track of them. the requirements need to be placed near where food is prepared in the classroom. the EYP can then make sure which child can have certain foods or not. it’s good to present it as a photo & name of the child with the food they cannot have underneath. it’s good to have this as well as printed copies or copies on the computer.

1
Early years practitioners should check meals before they are served and make sure that there is nothing the child shouldn't be eating. Its also important to communicate regularly to the cook and make sure they know what the babies or children can eat. Its also important to make sure that the practitioners to make sure that no child is felt left out and getting the same experience in trying new food and instead find another alternative for them. Making sure that the children get the right meals and their dietary requirements and preferences are not forgotten e.g put their food on another colored plate so they do the practitioners that the meal is meant for a specific child
2
Working with parents helps EYP by telling them what allergies and preference's they have so they are able to avoid any meals for the baby or child which may contain those foods. It also helps because the parent/carer may suggest options for snacks and meals that the children can eat/try as well as any alternatives they could eat instead.
