1. Although Rashad is in the hospital with severe injuries from the attack and he knows he didn't deserve it, he still doesn't want Spoony to make a big deal about it. This further shows that Rashad seems like a person who just wants to live a normal life and stay out of trouble.
2. Rashad's brother Spoony seems like the type of person who speaks up for what he believes in. It is clear that he won't let what happened to Rashad get "swept under the rug" (p.38) and be forgotten. I wonder if Rashad is going to eventually be ok with his brother fighting for him.
3. The fact that Rashad's father did not believe that he was telling him the truth about what happened at Jerry's and even tried to blame it on how he was dressed definitely stood out to me. This makes me think that because he used to be a police officer that he is biased, even when it comes to his own son!

1. While Rashad was in the hospital, hurt and fragile we know that he doesn't deserve what just happened to him. We know that us readers and even the character himself knows that he didn't do anything wrong. I feel like the more we go throughout the book the more we realize that Rashad really is a good kid who doesn't like doing bad things. He has lots of respect for his father so he obeys his rules. But now in this chapter I feel like we're learning about how annoyed Rashad is getting with his dad.
2. I think that Rashad and his dads relationship is one that is standing out to me more. Although Rashad always listens to his dad it feels like his dad still isn't understanding him. We know that when Rashad was in the hospital talking to his dad his father kept on denying what he was saying. For example, when Rashad was explaining everything that had happened his dad kept on saying were you wearing this?Who were you with? why did you resist? why don't you ever listen to me? All these questions are being asked and yet he won't listen to what his own son is saying.
3. Even if I was just talking about his dad I want to continue because this really did stood out to me. I just finding it crazy that his dad won't listen to his son. I feel like his dad thinks that his son is going to end up like every other kid or is going to end up a disappointment to his dad. Imagine putting yourself in Rashads shoes. How would you feel? I just feel like because of his dads response maybe it will effect their relationship.

We are learning about Rashad’s family like spony, and his dad. The different relationships he has is with his dad and mom. For example, his dad’s relationship if like a love hate relationship. One detail is for the fact that his dad has the audacity to say “where are your pants sagging” or “if it walk like a duck and talks like a duck then they’re going to think that you’re another whatever” and his mom’s relationship is a grate relationship because when he was in the hospital she did scream at him she made sure that he was OK and she wanted to hear your side of the story first.

We are learning that Rashad didn’t do anything but he got severely hurt by the police officer and he doesn’t want to have to go to court because he didn’t do anything he didn’t resist, he didn’t steal, and he wasn’t talking back so why is all of these things happening to him. 2. Rashad’s brother seems like the protective type that when he came into the room it was almost like he had a feeling that his father didn’t believe Rashad. 3. Something that is important in this chapter is the fact that his father doesn’t believe him and his reaction to hearing his son say that he did say anything was like he complete didn’t believe him.

1. In this chapter we start to learn about what Rashad is feeling about the situation. He's hurt, and feels I guess disrespected by his father's reaction to what happened. I feel like here we are truly learning his opinions on the certain natures of other characters like his Dad and Spoony.

2. Regarding his relationships, we learn that his mother is generally a caring, understanding person. She wasn't mentioned as much but she never blamed him and tried to keep Rashad's dad in control. We also learn that his dad believes in the police and won't trust his son in this situation. He believes it's his fault, ex: pants sagging.

1. We learned on Saturday that Rashad was injured worse than previously thought and was charged with 3 misdemeanors. He seems to be more than just hurt on the outside he felt like the whole world was against for doing nothing. This creates confusion and anger on top of his injuries.
2. We learned that his mom is caring and very considerate by her actions after he wakes up. On the other hand you have his dad who is trying to find any reason to blame him for being a victim. You can tell that his dad truly believes Rashad had to do something wrong in order for this to happen instead of believing in his own son. This speaks depths about their relationship as father and son if you can call it that.
3. Something that stood out to me is there giving him the maximum charge for a crime he didn't commit. They have insufficient evidence of him committing a crime but they charge him with three misdemeanors.

Something we are learning about rashad is he is in a lot of pain from his injury.I know this because in the book rashad talks about this as he says even taking the slightest of a breath causes him insane chest pain. Also when the nurse came in to lift up rashad’s bed he screamed ouch because it hurt him.I think rashad has a good relationship with his brother because in the book he talks about how he thinks his hair looks cool but his dad doesn’t think so.Also when his brother came in he greeted rashad nicely but he just said hi to his dad this shows he doesn’t like his dad that much but likes his little brother rasha. Something that stood out to me in this chapter was his chest pain. In this chapter rashad talks a lot about his chest and how extreme his pain is I feel like this is gonna play out big in the next few chapters because he talks about his pain like 1 million knives slicing him this shows how much pain rashad is in and I feel like something is gonna happen. With his health.

When all this happened his dad should I have been more comforting instead of basically blaming him so what happened. I think that rashad is very hurt emotionally and physically. His mom is very kind and only wants the best for her kids. She was worried and rushed right beside rashad whenever she could. I think that rashads dad needs to just listen to his son and be there for him. He is believing the police more then hearing his son out. His son just went through a traumatic experience and it seems like he doesnt really care about how much pain his son just went to. It seems like he is on the cops side instead of his sons. The brother is also a great support system he has been there for his family as much as he could.
