Football games, concerts, drama productions, and other large events gather a large crowd. Many other schools don’t have issues with parking because they are large enough and have enough dedicated space to have plenty of parking which we simply have not had until now.  Very often people are forced to park on the streets, causing hassles and danger in traffic while exiting and entering sporting music drama and other events as well as being a large burden upon the neighborhood. Also, with this extended space, less students would be forced to cross the street in the morning, further reducing the possibility of accidents and injury that can occur. 

 

-Problem 2: There is no outdoor space for events, students, or staff aside from sports facilities

While yes parking is an important thing for our school to have, sacrificing the entirety of the acquisition to this endeavor would be a waste. Many students and staff as well love to spend time outside- this is a no brainer. We need space to allow for small outdoor events, such as fundraisers like bottle drives, or even performance events like the open mic Jam Fam nights, which are commonly held in the library but has had interest to be held outside in the past to be outside. A space like this could easily be turned into an outdoor amphitheater for clubs, events and activities run by both students and teachers. Also, by placing picnic tables here it would serve as a nice lunch spot for teachers and seniors to be able to enjoy their food in the outdoors without having to compromise with a bench or have to travel at all. It would also provide more opportunity for outdoor lessons, which many students enjoy having done, during the warm weather in early fall and spring.

 

-Extra Opportunity: Opportunity to create a new club

Allowing some green space will allow for a brand new club to exist, a Spartan garden club, We can use this to teach students about agricultural lessons, and even would lead to possibly more participation than the previous Spartan garden efforts on Hooper due to its near proximity to the school. This could also be utilized by biology classes for demonstrations involving plants in fall and spring if teachers desire to do so. The food produced can either go to the students or donations to the community, but I will leave that up to you. I admit that this is the most expendable portion of the proposal I am presenting to you, but I believe it could be an exciting opportunity given its chance.
