I love Amelia’s problem. She chose erosion and created an amazing lesson on how we can work through things to stop erosion. This can easily be incorporated for younger children. Elementary does science, so using her lesson in science would be helpful.

I thought it was an interesting idea to to this type of activity. It brings out their creativity and knowledge of tech. This activity also helps to verify understanding of the topic.

Mia’s authentic assessment asked students to use camera footage to collect data and make conclusions. She asks them to collaborate with older students to help with editing and making scripts. I really like the use of older kids because it’s peer collaboration. I could see myself doing this in my classroom when my kindergartners are faced with a difficult task that needs extra guidance.

I really liked the topic of microplastics. Its something that is so relevant as we live on the coast and the things that we do to our trash directly impacts the oceans. Having students explore the garbage patches virtually or actually go to a beach clean up would be inpactful

I really liked how AJ and Allie had their students take an ecological footprint quiz before beginning their lessons. This made their impact on the environment very real for them. I like the idea of finding online quizzes like that that put the learning into perspective for the kids

In Stephanie’s project she has the great idea of having students form groups but in each group every student has their own individual role. I love this idea because it allows for collaborative efforts but it also takes away the worry that one student is going to be stuck doing all the work.

I love how brianna’s lesson focuses a lot on peer feedback. This gives students a voice and allows them to help their peers with their work and get feedback on their own work. I also like that they create solutions to the problem themselves, which gives them freedom to choose how they want to tackle the problem.

Technology can give students the chance to enhance their learning possibly with collaboration with people they may not typically be able to collaborate with. additionally, it allows students to creatively express the ideas they learn

This includes; designing, creating presentations and presenting their solutions. This gives them the opportunity to have their own opinion about what they think is best and then having the opportunity to present their work to a panel.

The use of seesaw and flipgrid give the students the choice to reflect on what they have learned in they ways that make them comfortable. Whether it is a video or a post they can share their learnings within their comfort zone and connect with their classmates.

I really liked aidan’s ALE. He talks about letting the students have more of a voice in what they are discussing about microplastics. They are able to type out a research paper and refer back to it as they discuss. I will use this in my classroom by allowing students to take more notes and look back at what we are learning and changing it if need be.
