We had to make our character traits fit with the facial expressions on the masks, I was the upset shop keeper, and my partner Tarik was the un-caring customer. At this point in time my class and I were studying comedia del arte.  My partner and I decided to record this piece because we thought it was funny and something we had never done before so wanted a video to keep as a memory of the fun things we got to do. During this lesson we were taught how to walk when wearing theses masks as they are only fully effective from the front so to be always showing the front of the mask you would have to walk sideways.

In the excerpt I play Paulina and Mehmet played Gerardo. We were given the option out of 3 different scripts and my partner, and I decided on this one as we believed that it was the most challenging due to the accents. This play is about a tragic story of a woman who was kidnapped tortured and sexually assaulted. When she was eventually released, she never forgot about what happened to her, then one day her husband brings back a strange man that she believes to be her abuser and decides to get revenge on this man. The scene I perform is the morning after he is in her house, she has tied him up and her husband has just come down to see a man tied up in his kitchen.

This play was written by Ursula Rani Sarma. This monologue is about a teenage girl who doesn’t have the best relationship with her parents and is annoyed with them so is expressing her feelings. She is also disgusted to know that some people have good relationships with their parents and can talk to them about things like sex as this is not the relationship she has with hers. I chose this monologue because in some ways I am very much like Sarah and in many other ways I am nothing like her as I believe I have a very good relationship with my mum, however,  I am also a teenager and understand how Sarah views the world at this moment in time. I have a lot of fun with this monologue and every time I perform it I do it slightly different every time.

In this monologue Constance is showing her anger towards King Philip as he had gone against an agreement that they had together he had agreed that his family would be joined in marriage to Arthurs family because she accuses Philip of treating her falsely he promised her that he would join her in defeating John’s army but has now joined John’s army instead, Austria also tries to sooth Constance but she is angry with him too for joining the other side. King John wasn’t very brave and would just choose the winning side because he is a coward. I am reading from the monologue Astrid. This play is a play full of different monologues that offer a state of the nation group portrait. I really enjoyed playing Astrid in this monologue as this is something I have not personally experienced. However, when I put my mind in the situation that is shown in this story, I can get into quite an emotional state as I would not want that to be my future. Although, if this were to occur, this is the way I would present myself if I were in this situation and reflecting upon what my life had become.
