She is the head of special circumstances so she is the one who blackmailed Tally to go find the Smoke. That way they would be able to end the Smoke once for all and turn the smokies into pretties. She is my least favorite character because she made Tally do things that she didn’t want to. At the beginning Tally wanted to turn Pretty so badly, she would do morphos of herself and once she even did it for Shay (their face after the operation). After meeting Shay she was confused and didn’t know what to think about the operation but later she decided to finally turn Pretty. When the operation day came Dr.Cable give Tally two choices and they were not including turning Pretty and that is what Tally had chose between that and the Smoke. Also Dr. Cable made Tally’s job look so easy when in fact it was very hard to get there all alone. She is like every villain, as soon as she appeared in the book everything started to go wrong. Example: She didn't help Tally with her hope of turning Pretty, she made her infiltrate the Smoke. It looks like she is always against Tally and that reminded me of Voldemort. When Tally seems to get better she is always there to bring her down and screw everything up like Voldemort. Yesterday, the news got out and it looks like Tally and David, two rebels who escaped during the attack of the enemies in our city, the Smoke, delivered the hostages that were captured during the attack of the Special Circumstances, two weeks ago.They managed to infiltrate special divisions and attempted to save all the smokies and they saved them all!  It looks like they have been planning this for a couple of days because the new pretty town police understood that accomplices of uglie ville were probably involved in the project. First, Tally look really sensible and friendly and that make me think of me. If I was her I would have never went to the smoke alone because it was really dangerous, but she did it! At the beginning of the book, Tally explain that she really wants to have the famous operation because in the society everyone think that for becoming a pretty you have to have the operation because if not you will never be a pretty and you will stay ugly forever. “We're not freaks, Tally. We're normal. We may not be gorgeous, but at least we're not hyped-up Barbie dolls.” In this quote of the book Shay means that being a perfection like a pretty is maybe not the best thing. In my opinion everyone is pretty in their way and no one should define what is it to be pretty. Another theme we can find is the precession of the government.“Maybe they didn't want you to realize that every civilization has its weakness. There's always one thing we depend on. And if someone takes it away all that's left is some story in a history class.” This quotes makes us understand that in a society, the government can hide things to us to control our mind. In the book, the government convince everyone that to be pretty you have to have an operation and to stay uglie is a bad thing. Even in our reality, the government also influence us about what we should do and what we shouldn’t.

The reason why we can consider the Special Circumstances as the antagonist is because they antagonize Tally who is the principal character in the book. Dr. Cable is the director on top of the special circumstances and she really represents the stereotypical villain character like Voldemort in Harry Potter or President Snow in Huger Games. “The woman was a cruel pretty. Her nose was aquiline, her teeth sharp, her eyes a non-reflective gray”.(page 104) That really represent the dangerous and scary character. Also, in the part 3 of the book we can see that Tally and David are trying to infiltrate the Special Circumstances to deliver all the hostage there. The reaction of David when he realized how much Tally was courageous was priceless. At this moment, David was falling a little more in love with Tally and that makes me smile because I know that falling in love is an amazing feeling. The passage I disliked the most in part 3 was at the pages 288 and 289 because this is when Tally and Shay were sitting in the same room in the Special Circumstances department and Shay reminded Tally of everything she had done wrong and that everything that was happening was her fault. We succeed in destroying The Smoke. Early this morning, Special circumstances  invaded the Smoke. The Smoke was the place were rebels lived outside of the city and its took many years to find where they were located. It’s been a long time that the special circumstances were on the case. We heard that they did it with the help of an infiltrators. When they landed everything started to get out of hand. t wasn’t easy, most of them fought back and tried to escaped but special circumstances took control over the situation. The rebels are now at the special circumstance and we are trying to figure out what we’ll do with them.

(Shay VS Tally)
They are different, so that means different thinking. As we read we can see that their opinion on certain things differ. Example, at the page 80, they were talking about the operation and talking about turning pretty and they got in a fight because they had different opinion.
”Well i want to be happy , and looking like a real person is the first step.”
“I’m not afraid of looking the way I do, Tally”
“Maybe not, but you are afraid of growing up!”, p.80.
In this passage, they are clearly in an argument. Tally wants to turn pretty and Shay like the way she looks. It reminded me of my friend and I, we argue on things that we have completely different opinion about and sometimes it doesn’t end very well.

It's Tally against the Special Circumstances.
The Special Circumstances are not letting Tally turn Pretty, and she really wanted to be one. It's not okay because she is alone in that situation against "the big boss" of her society. "Then I'll make you a promise too, Tally Youngblood. Until you help us, to the very best of your ability, you will never be pretty." She has to do everything on her own. That conflict reminded me a lot of the movie "The giver" or "Divergence". It's the main character, who realized that the world they live in is wrong, is against the government.

They are different but very similar at the same time. First they became friend very easily and to be friend with someone you need to have some things in common. I think they have the same urge to go explore things that are forbidden and do extreme things, like overboard. Another common point is that they were both alone when they met, they had no friends and I think that is why they stocked together. Also both of them were afraid about the smoke. At first Tally didn’t believe that it was real and when the operation day had come she was ready to become a Pretty like Shay who chickened out the first time she was supposed to go to the Smoke. Even if they have a lot of things in common they have not the same thinking and personalities. At the beginning of the book, I realize that Tally was more superficial than Shay. Tally wanted to turn pretty, she used to love the way Pretties were looking and she used to do morphos of herself so she could look the way she want. However Shay didn't like that, she was good in her own body. She liked the way she looked without the operation and she taught that it was superficial. The book includes a love story between Tally and David but also a tragedy when Special circumstances invaded the Smoke or when David's dad die. Throughout all the novel there is action and you never know what’s going to happen next.
