Columbus went to Spain to get the boats that took him to the new world. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand ll funded him with ships. In return they wanted    spices and gold and silk.

When Columbus came to the New World he spread smallpox to the Natives, which killed many of them. 
What changed in the New World when Columbus came?
When Columbus came to the New World other Europeans wanted to come over and settle there. He did not want to land in America he wanted to land in India to trade.

He changed the New World by calling the Native Americans Indians.

He also did not treat the Native Americans very good.

He made the Native Americans do labor by making them mine for gold.
