There were plazas which is an open square that people can gather in. In 1781 a group of 44 settlers got together and built a pueblo that would later be known as Los Angeles.
In 1777 the first Pueblo is settled in San Jos'e de Guadalupe. Indians are key for missions because they worked for the missions. Priests taught Indians about Christianity but some Indians didn't like life in the missions and decided to runaway and if they got caught they might be punished. They taught Indians new skills like caring for animals such as Horses, Sheep , Chickens, and Goats.
