When you mean something, you say something genuinely and authentically. You stay away from dishonesty and sarcasm, and really say something when you truly mean it. Example: "My fish Larry just died." Instead of saying something sarcastic about Larry, you would give her your best wishes, if that was how you felt.

Tact

Tact is the art of handling a situation kindly and politely while getting the point across. Example: You see someone cheating off you on a test. Instead of yelling at them and making a scene, push the paper away from them for the moment, and let them know after class that you were not okay with it, and you will be telling someone. Say all of this with a nice tone and nice manners.

Assertiveness

Assertiveness is when you say something politely and strongly, and take control of situations. People might look up to you as a leader because of this. This is different from tact because when you're tactful, you need to get the point across, but you're not trying to take control of the situation, just manage it. Example: A boss of a workplace has to lead the company in a way where he is looked up to and people want to follow him, but he won't back down if people don't do what he/she says.

When what you say is straight to the point, and you don't keep rambling. Example: At the Presidential Debates, Trump and Hillary talk around the topics, rather than pinpointing them. That's not the way to answer a question.

If you use para-language skills, it means that you speak everything with your own voice. You mean what you say, it comes from the heart, and it's told from your unique perspective. Example: When giving a speech about, say, graduation, writing it from your own perspective, viewpoints, and voice is a use of para-language.

Body language is using non-verbal skills to communicate messages.

Courtesy is being polite and using manners on a daily basis. It's different from tact, because courtesy should be used on a daily basis, not just specifically in situations.
