Antietam Road and Civil War Artillery

Thesis/claim: There was no clear winner of the battle because both sides lost many soldiers.

Evidence: It is said that both sides were almost equal at the beginning of the battle. By the end of the battle they were still equal other than the fact that they had killed off thousands of men.

Reasoning: The killing of thousands didn't help anyone since no one side gained anything from the battle. They only lost men.

The rifle cannon, otherwise known as the Napoleon cannon, was one of the reasons why it is said that the battle of antietam was technologically advanced. This heavy piece of machinery had the capability of firing solid shots against enemies. This caused it to come in handy for large scale battles such as this one.
