In 2017 the key focus that the educational world wanted to focus on was personalizing education for the benefit of learning. Some key upbringings that were brought up around this time period were the creation of Google Classroom in 2015. This allowed for an immense amount of personalization for teachers and students and also allowed for increased accessibility which was another key focus of 2017. Another focus that was emphasized is using data to drive instruction to further the efficiency of education in the classroom. This was the key focus in 2004 but, it was again emphasized in 2017.

2024 consisted of a lot of personal trends that are focused on educational needs. Information was released from The National Educational Technology Plan (NETP).

First is Digital Use Divide: This addressed the inconsistent ways students use technology. They made tools that were more collaborating and personalized to students learning.

The next is Digital Design Divide: This made tools more effective for students as well as user-centered and making it revolve around the students learning needs. Also made more inclusive and accessible for students with different needs.

Digital Access Design: This supports diverse student learning and helping those who face different barriers. It gives universal access to technology and makes it more equitable to ensure ALL students have access to the same tools.

One key priority of the 2004 document was using technology as a catalyst for change. This is a key priority because at this point in education the technology aspect was falling behind technology in the real world and students were at a disadvantage because of it.

A second priority is data-driven decision making. Data-driven decision making can include many different things some of which can be analyzing student performance to show learning gaps, inform instruction, and can hold schools accountable for how they're teaching and how their students are learning.

The last priority is promoting modern skills with technology. This ties into the first priority because school technology was falling behind and needed to be upgraded desperately. Once the technology gets upgraded so do the skills these students graduate with. They gain more modern skills when the technology becomes more modern.
