The Irish celebrate Saint Patrick mainly because of how christianity arrived in Ireland in the fifth century around 431 AD. St. Patrick was a slave in Ireland once, and he has worked as a shepherd at the age of sixteen for six years. Then later there were bishops who taught the people about christ and he was one of the early ones. St. Patrick also had wrote a book known as The Confession and the book talked about his life in Ireland. At the time when he arrived most people believed in the pagan gods, however later on many of the people changed to Christianity.

http://www.askaboutireland.ie/learning-zone/primary-students/subjects/history/history-the-full-story/early-christian-ireland/

There are many reasons to go and visit Ireland even though you have to go by plane the ride will be worth it. When you arrive you will be amazed by the landscapes, and when you come across a town they have great hospitality and a good taste of beverages. They also have good food and they are one of the top places to celebrate because the locales will get into the festive mood quickly. By the end of any day you will be out of it in no time because of how much fun you will have during the day and the night, then on your flight back you will have so many stories tell when you get home.
