Page 6 to 25.

1.) On page 16, Omar is chasing Hassan to put on his pants. Hassan does not want to wear his pants, so he tries running from Omar. That reminds me of the time I ran away from my mom when she wanted me to wear a bowtie.

2.) On page 17, Omar and Hassan are building mud bricks from a mud pit. After a while Hassan and Omar finished the house and played in it. That reminds me of the time when me and my brother went to the beach and made sand blocks with water.

3.) On page 25, Omar shows Fatuma that he learned how to say "One, two, three" and how he could write his name in the sand with a stick. When he showed it to Fatuma she was surprised and was happy for him. That reminds me of the time when I showed my mom a 15/15 test score. Then she rewarded me with a Pokemon pack because she was proud of me.

4.) On page 20, Omar and Hassan were playing soccer with Big Ali. The soccer ball was made out of plastic bags so they were not very sturdy enough to be played with roughly. After a couple of minutes, the ball broke and there were plastic bags everywhere. That reminds me of a time when me and my brother were playing soccer. The soccer ball was over-inflated, so it was wacky to kick it. After a few minutes, I shot the ball so hard it exploded! The pieces were everywhere and I had to clean it up.

Not just because it's educating you but because we can never be sure if you ever go home or find your mom. If you learn now and struggle now you can provide for you and your family later. I know you are scared about leaving Hassan because he needs you but, it's time that Hassan can learn some independence and you learn new, useful things. If you look into your heart you will want to go to school, in case things don't turn out the way you want it to. Like going back to Somalia and finding your mom or getting to go to America, you can help yourself, Hassan and your family like Fatumah. If you don't learn now it will be harder for you later and harder for Hassan.

Sincerely,

Salan

Dear Fatuma,

I hope you are doing well. I am sorry for snapping at you earlier. Hassan and I thought we saw Mama while getting food, but it was a different woman. I wonder why the last weeks were not very pleasing it is just like....the food is slowly depleting and soon there will be no more food left to eat. But I hope that will never happen after all the UN is on our side, but what if that's not enough? Whatever, we should not be worried about other things like that. I am enjoying school and getting smarter every day! Thank you for taking care of us Fatuma, and have a nice day.

                                       Best regards,

                                        Omar

Your story is very sad and depressing. I also want to know if Hassan is okay after having that random seizure after two years! I am praying for you and Hassan to get resettled! If you guys do get resettled to America, will Fatuma come with you or will it just be you and Hassan going? I personally think that you should keep doing well in school in case you do not get picked to be resettled. I am praying for you Guys!

Sincerely,

Alina
