The Caribbean is a diverse combination of people brought together by many factors and historical events which led to their residence in the Caribbean region.
The binding factor that ties most if not all Caribbean people is their similarity in culture.
Culture is the way of life and societal norms of a population of people in a defined region. Kroeber and Kluckhohn stated "Culture consists of patterns, explicit and implicit, of and for behaviour acquired and transmitted by symbols, constituting the distinctive achievements of human groups, including their embodiment in artifacts; the essential core of culture consists of traditional (i.e. historically derived and selected) ideas and especially their attached values; culture systems may, on the one hand, be considered as products of action, on the other, as conditional elements of future action."

9/10/17
Slavery and Culture are highlighted in
the video below and a vital focus is placed on the history of the Caribbean and its culture.(food, music, language, etc.)
The importance of culture and a sense of belonging is evident in the Caribbean. Caribbean Family life and
language are directly impacted upon by the slavery and forced African migration caused by the Plantation systems. The birth of Creole languages in the Caribbean as well as the disparity of languages brought about by the African and English influences can be seen in the Modern Caribbean. Slavery played a vital role in the Caribbean as it introduced a new diaspora to the Caribbean. The African culture was then introduced into the Caribbean resulting in the cultural presence we see today.

15/10/17
Caribbean literature and novels such as " Green Days by The River " by Michael Anthony reflect the true colours of Caribbean Creole as it demonstrates many aspects of the language. The setting of the book is based in Trinidad where there was a difference in cultures between the two main protagonists. This led to creolization and displays a mirrored effect on today's society. The mixing and interbreeding of cultures in the Caribbean caused racial tensions to be released and mixed- marriages accepted. The cultures that interact with one another give rise to the formation of different creoles which are now being respected as official languages in its own rights having syntax, subject verb agreement and structure. There are now a multitude of different creoles and patios in the Caribbean and differ from country to country with a diverse and unique background which led to its creation.

1/11/17
Caribbean Religion as is all Caribbean issues is diverse and complex, comprising of many factors while led to its current state.
When Europeans came to the Caribbean, they brought their beliefs as well as there culture. The Spanish and French were Roman Catholics, the British were Protestants.
Caribbean Family Life

12/11/17

The article below show cases how the Caribbean's diversity has affected the functioning and role of the Caribbean Family. The Caribbean Family is a Social institution which can easily shape culture and the view of norms in the Caribbean. The role of the family is to provide a base and view on rights and wrongs, cultural norms and society on a whole. The Caribbean although has a very interesting diaspora in respect to Family. Normally the usual family unit would consist of a father, mother and two children ( Nuclear Family ). Caribbean Society brandishes a different type of family structure; extended, single parent and even sibling families. This drastic shift is due to the historical events that took place throughout the Caribbean such as Slavery, Indentureship, Plantation Systems and Emancipation. A common trend is that Slavery led to the production of single parent families not only in the Caribbean where most male slaves where carried but also in the native tribes where men were taken leaving the female portion of the society to full both roles. The Indian and Chinese Indentureship led to the formation of very large extended families as frequent migration would have taken place.
