Atomic Habits (James Clear), by Alby Churven (Word Count: 360)

This term, I read Atomic Habits by James Clear. It is a non-fiction book about how to build better habits and break bad ones. Unlike a novel, this book doesn't tell a story, but it still grabbed my interest. At first, I wasn't sure I would enjoy it because I usually prefer reading fiction with characters and a plot. However, I chose this book because I wanted to improve my focus and become more organised. In my reading journal, I wrote that I hoped it would help me develop better habits for school and daily life.

As I continued reading, I found myself really enjoying the book. James Clear explains ideas in a very simple and clear way, using real life examples from other successful people that are easy to understand. He talks about how small, everyday actions can lead to big changes over time. This made me think a lot about my own habits, like how much time I spend on my phone or how often I slack off on doing my homework. Instead of trying to make big changes all at once, the book taught me to focus on tiny improvements that build up over time.

One of the most powerful ideas in the book is when Clear says, “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” This means that goals are important, but what really matters is the system you create to reach them. I also liked the idea of changing your identity through habits, for example, saying “I am a healthy person” instead of “I want to be healthy.” That small change in thinking made a big impression on me.

Overall, I really liked Atomic Habits. It was easy to follow, even though it wasn’t a typical fiction book that I would normally read. I learned a lot about how to improve in small ways each day. I think this book is great for students who want to improve in school or in other parts of their life. It showed me that real change doesn’t happen overnight, but it can start with just one small habit.

I feel quite entertained when I read, but it definitely depends what book and if I get to read what I want. Reading is fun. It makes a movie in my head which makes me more engaged with the text. Usually I go for horror or action novels as they engage me more unlike romance or drama. They are like watching paint dry for thousands of years. Just mid as hell and boring and unengaging. This is why I like to choose my books as it meets the criteria of what I like to read.

The book I am reading is called Wings of Fire by Tui t. Sutherland (The third book in the series). The book is about a group of dragons attempting to fulfill a prophecy. The book focuses on action and betrayal as well as teamwork. The book is filled with unexpected turns of events with an interesting story line using great language and engaging characters to truly fulfill what I want to read. This is one, if not the only, novel I like to read.

The story goes along with great speed making and using a first person and second person view. Every book one of the dragonets is the one talking in first person which lets us learn more about the characters in every book which keeps it engaging. This makes my experience in reading more enjoyable and fun. This also means that all characters are equally seen. There are many main characters which makes us know more about all of the characters then just mainly focus on one. For example, in the first book one of the main characters Clay, was the one speaking in first person. Then book 2 Another character was speaking called tsunami. Now I know about Clay and tsunamis. So as I continue on I will learn more about all the characters equally. So as I continue I will learn about all characters equally.

Overall, I really like my book and am very, very engaged with the story because of these points it has made me want to read even more now. The plot, the story and the characters are overall very engaging. As well as the different scenery in every book and the fact that nothing is overused. This makes the book great for me to read and enjoy, and I hope the books just get better as I progress.

The Big Three by Michael Holley, by Aston Di Pietro (word count 591)

THE BIG THREE by Michael Holley

My book The Big Three is an amazing book. It is written by the author Michael Holley. The book has some suspense and gives you an insight into one of the greatest NBA teams ever and the steps it took to get there. I have enjoyed this book the whole time I have been reading it. It connects to me as I am an NBA fan and I enjoy the players that played on that team.

As I am progressing through the book I am starting to get more and more engaged. It starts off pretty boring as it is when the Celtics were terrible and didn't make any moves. But when Danny Ainge gets introduced to the book it adds a new side to the story. It makes you feel his emotions with the tough decisions and the difficult moments.

I am not too far in the book but so far the three main guys are Doc Rivers, Danny Ainge and Wyc Grousbeck. We start off with Grosbeck buying the Celtics for three hundred million dollars. The Celtics at the time seemed impossible to buy but the Grousbeck family brought it. They start rebuilding around their star Paul Pierce. They signed Danny Ainge in 2003 as their executive of basketball operations. It did take a lot of convincing but the deal went through as he did see some potential for their future. Lastly Doc Rivers, Jim O'Brien was the coach before the Celtics then the interim John Carrol came in. Over in Orlando Doc Rivers was fired and Doc then went and worked for the ABC network covering the NBA. Doc loved his job but he couldn't find that competitive spirit in him so when the Celtics offered him the job he accepted it in a minute.

Some key moments in the book are when the sale actually happened. It was a cold day in Boston. Wyk went to the office of the owner of the Celtics. He asked Paul Gaston (the original owner of the Celtics) how much do the Celtics cost, Paul Gaston at the time said we aren't looking to sell the Celtics (Gaston had been the owner of the Celtics for 7 years). Wyk said, "What if I offer you 360 million dollars?" Paul was shocked no one has ever offered this much. Paul said are you sure, and Wyk said yes. So Wyk bought the Celtics in the summer of 2003. Another moment is when Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers established a beef early on. When Doc Rivers became the coach of the Celtics, Doc Rivers asked Peirce, “Do you take bad shots or are you not a great shooter.” Pierce was confused about what he was talking about,Doc said “Cause you are shooting 30% from 3 and 40% from the field goal which isn't good for a great shooter, so I ask are you a bad shooter or do you take bad shots, cause you can’t be both.” Pierce's hatred for Doc grew. Peirce used to throw a tantrum after every game. They sorted the beef out when they had a private meeting, Paul asked Doc “We cool right” and he said “Yes.” When I was reading these moments I felt excited and anticipated what could happen.

My overall thoughts of the book is that it is an amazing book if you are a fan of the NBA, if not you could still enjoy this book with its tense moments. It is a fun and entertaining book.

Reading is fun because it is relaxing, calming, and will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. Reading also can calm down the brain, this helps with getting to sleep faster. Additionally, there are a lot of books to choose from. This means whenever I get bored of one, I can just look around and find another book that will entertain me more, and the best part? When you finish the book, this is because you feel a sense of accomplishment and happiness.

The book Animal Farm is a really good book that was written by George Orwell. While I was reading the book, it gave me a feeling of excitement and happiness because the whole time it kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what was to happen next. The book was a really fun book to read, and it kept me reading at home for hours!

At the start of the book it was a little bit confusing, and I didn't really understand what was happening, but after reading for about thirty minutes I got really engaged in the book and was reading like there was no tomorrow. The first 5 chapters were really engaging and were fun to read, a lot happened during these chapters. A key part of the book was Old Major's speech because it inspired the rebellion to happen. During his speech, it made me feel a mix of inspiration and determination, like I was one of his comrades. This speech also helped me to understand the book more, like when Old Major said "All animals are equal." but later in the book you learn that this extract is totally disregarded.

Overall, this book was a very delightful book that made me feel a mix of emotions such as excitement and amusement, it got me very engaged in reading it. This made the first chapters really entertaining, making me want to read more and more! Throughout the book when I was reading it got more and more captivating, with every page it becomes more unpredictable, like something very unexpected was about to happen.

I know reading is good for our learning and can be somewhat entertaining. Reading relaxes the mind. While reading you can learn new words, and improve your English in general. When you finish a chapter or paragraph, the book excites you and you want to read more.

In term 1 I read a book called Animal Farm by George Orwell. It was probably the best book that I have ever read. Animal Farm is all about animals who want to rebel against their owner who is Farmer Jones. Old Major, who is a pig, inspires his ‘comrades’ to rebel against Farmer Jones. Old Major’s goal is to create a society where all animals have freedom and all have equal rights. Old Major shared his goal through a speech when he spoke in front of everyone when Mr Jones went to bed.

After the rebellion, the pigs start to form leadership roles and they introduce the seven commandments. These include:

Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.

Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.

No animal shall wear clothes.

No animal shall sleep in a bed.

No animal shall drink alcohol.

No animal shall kill any other animal.

All animals are equal.

Overall, learning from rebellion involves understanding its causes and consequences. Rebellion involves people retaliating/protesting against a government or society.

For my birthday my friend gave me a book about Diego Maradona, Maradona is probably the best soccer player that has ever walked our earth. Sadly, Maradona passed away in 2020. I have been reading this book all of term 2 and it's very good. It's an autobiography which means he wrote the book himself! He tells us all about his career. “Sometimes I think that my whole life is on film, that my whole life is in print. But it's not like that. There are things which are only in my heart—that no one knows. At last I have decided to tell everything." Although I have only gotten up to his career in Boca Juniors in 1981 it's a really good book so far. I'm excited to read more about his career. I do know most of it but it will be fun to read more about it.

Diego Maradona went from being a poor boy of a Buenos Aires poor town to the world's greatest soccer player. Not everyone is perfect, Maradona included. Diego had many downfalls in his life, the biggest one being when he was tested positive for cocaine ahead of a match. He also had a big alcohol addiction. Maradona sadly passed away at his house on November 25th 2020 at the age of 60. While he was recovering from another sickness, Diego had a heart attack and that's how he died.

Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy, by Tui T. Sutherland, by River Reilly (word count 431)

Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland

Reading is not entertaining and wastes time. I do not like reading it is boring. When I read, I am depressed and sad. I like reading comic books and picture books; however, I find that novels are boring. I find books like Wings of Fire unenjoyable because it’s just all words. There is just to many words. I would prefer some pictures over the painful monotony of walls of text. Reading novels simply consumes to much of my time. We shouldn’t read for fifteen minutes at the start of every lesson. I would rather draw a comic book than read another accursed page.

The book I'm currently forced to be reading is called Wings of Fire. It is about dragons who are stuck in a cave because they are the dragons of the prophecy and must train to overcome the coming trials that will beset them. There are 5 different types of dragons in the cave: MudWing, SeaWing, NightWing, SandWing and RainWing. When I started reading this book, I was engaged and wondered how they would stop the war, but after some time it was a really long book, which made it slow-paced, so then it became boring, and that engagement went away. Tui T. Sutherland has written Wings of Fire books from 2013 to present day, with a total of 15 novels, a staggering amount that would benefit from some fresh imagery.

When I started, I was reading to lock in and read something new. I was looking around the library for a book and stumbled upon Wings of Fire. I remembered that I read one of the books in this series in primary school, due to this, I felt compelled to read the first one. I was ready to embark on a new journey. I hoped I would like to enjoy reading a novel, but then it started to slowly slide into monotony once again.

The key moments in this book are: the origins of the prophecy, which tell that 5 dragonets will end the SandWing war. Secondarily, there is the theft of a dragon egg; thirdly, there is Burns destruction of a SkyWing egg, this action leads directly into the prophecy, leading them to steal a RainWing egg as a replacement. Morrowseer, a NightWing, visits the dragonets they escape after learning he plans to kill Glory.

Overall, what I have read in this book has been alright, but I don’t really like novels, so it doesn’t really entertain me. But if I liked to read novels, I would enjoy the book.

Reading can be fun sometimes, but most of the time it just feels boring, especially when the book is so long and never ends. It’s not easy picking a book either, nowadays. There are thousands of books out there, and it can take forever to find one that even sounds a little bit interesting. Then once you finally choose one, it’s hard to stay focused. You're just staring at the same page for what feels like hours.

Most books don’t even have pictures anymore, which makes it worse because there's nothing exciting to look at. You can’t even borrow books without stress, if you do and accidentally rip a page, they expect you to pay for the whole thing. And on top of that, reading takes up so much time. There are so many better things to do, like playing sports, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing. But instead, you’re stuck sitting at home flipping pages. In conclusion, reading might be fun for some people, but for me, it’s boring.

Messi vs ronaldo book

The book Ronaldo vs. Messi is written by Joshua Robinson and Jonathon Clegg. It talks about the two famous football players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. When I started reading, I was excited because I wanted to learn more about their lives and who might be better. At first, the book showed the differences between Ronaldo and Messi, like how they play and train. As I read more, I began to see how both players worked so hard for where they are now.

One key moment is when Messi scored three goals against Real Madrid, showing his skill. Another is Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United, after being at many different european clubs for nearly a decade in a half. These moments show how different they are, but both are great in their own way and always push each other to improve. I really liked the Ronaldo vs. Messi book since it shows how interesting both players grew up and became stars. The book didn’t choose a winner but showed how their rivalry made them both better. It was fun to read and taught me a lot about hard work and football.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid - Big Shot (By Jeff Kinney). Written by Angus Jones. Word Count: 351 words.

Reading is consuming and mid. But it all depends on the book. My favourite type of book is a graphic novel. My favourite book, though, is Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. But most books are EH. Sometimes it can also be relaxing. But sometimes it is straight up BAD.

The book is about a boy who does not want to play basketball. He is a non-sporty player, but his Mum urges Greg to go play a sport. He has to go to the basketball tryouts, but intentionally plays rubbish. He, of course, doesn't make it. But another student did not go to the tryouts, but he wants to play. So his father (not Greg’s) makes a team with all the other cut members.

One key moment was that, at the end, he sank a full-court shot while playing against the opposition. Now he wants to continue basketball with his new friends. Also, his mum wants him to play a sport, so he got into these teams.

My overall thoughts about Diary of a Wimpy Kid are great. It is a great book series with humour, and Greg’s life. This book series all have a meaning, and are all written in first-person view. This gives it the feeling like it's a diary. I like this book series because it relates to me, which I like about books.

I hope these books continue to get made, because it relates to me. This is because of the quote:

The crazy thing is, I used to actually like sports. But that was back in preschool, when sports were still FUN.” Now, everything is extremely competitive. This even makes sense in the real world. You see, sport was meant to solve issues, but it feels like it breaks everything apart.

At the end of the book, Greg makes a full-court shot for the opposition. He now wants to play basketball, but not with his original team. He wants to play with his new team and new friends.

I’d recommend this book for a non-sporty person, because it shows how it can be hard.

Books are something that most people in class either really like or really dislike and I'm not going to lie. I agree with the ones that dislike reading. I find that it is really hard to find a book I really like reading as I am really fussy with things that I spend good amounts of time on. Reading is really hard some days especially when we have come from a really hard lesson from the class before English. I am reading a book right now that I actually don't mind reading as it has a lot of action and isn't as boring as most of the others.

The book I'm reading is a book that you don't find very much and some people probably don't find it interesting at all but I really enjoy it. My book is called Liars and is written by a man named Jack Heath. This book is something that I really enjoy as it has a lot of action and you can tell there has been a lot of time spent on making the book as perfect as he could. The author of this book is amazing and has written many good books but in my opinion liars is the best book he has written. You can tell that he puts a lot of time and effort into making his books the best he can. I feel like I could read this book all the time and would keep on reading all the other liars books he has made.

Over the years of my reading I have felt that it is getting easier every time I do it, it doesn't even feel like a chore anymore but something that I would do without needing to get asked. The book has progressed a lot since the start and is making me still enjoy it as much as when I started reading it. I'm feeling really good about this book as it is a book that I can read and not get bored. With most other books I tend to get a bit bored of the books and that is when I start to dislike reading.

In this book there aren't many key moments but there are heaps of moments that have suspense which makes you think what is going to happen next. In this book there also are moments when they meet people and you don't know if they are good or bad and what is going to happen. It's the last week of term, I'm half way through the book and i have just read the best part of this book. It was about the person that they had trusted was actually the bad guy and tried to kill Jarlis friend but the Jarli chased her and almost drowned because the viper set off a bomb that exploded the tunnel and it flooded.

Percy Jackson and the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan (Word Count: 389)

Reading is learning, without excitement it simply doesn’t work. Don’t forget a good book needs to be entertaining in order to deliver its contents effectively. There are many factors that hinder a reader's ability to get into reading such as, when you start a book you might not be into reading as a hobby. One day you’ll be sitting on the outskirts of reading and the next day you might just be ready to take the plunge to read.

Reading isn’t just as simple as a story, it is a calming and relaxing technique, allowing you to see your thoughts through the painted mental image of the story you are reading. Only continue to read a book if it works in conjunction with your brain's imagery. A book is only good if it's a good story and it's only a good story if the author puts in time to make a good story. Everyone will have a difference of opinion on what a good story truly is. I personally think Percy Jackson and the LABYRINTH by Rick Riordan is a good novel. But when I first started reading it I didn’t think it was.

For me I only enjoy a book if I like its topic. I don’t enjoy the book if I don’t start reading it. I also don’t enjoy it if it just doesn’t interest me. Imagine you borrow a book from the library, the book might be Harry Potter. You start reading it and get bored and put the book down. What does this tell you? It tells you that you don’t enjoy fantasy and or you just don’t like Harry Potter. Now imagine you borrow Dog Man, you start reading and don’t want to put the book down. This tells you you enjoy Dog Man style comic books.

No one has the same taste in books, if everyone read the same book not everyone would enjoy it. As I already stated, I'm reading Percy Jackson and the LABYRINTH by Rick Riordan. If you would like to read the book here’s a quote from the book “An entrance to the Labyrinth. An invasion route straight into the heart of the camp.” Intrigue you? It wouldn’t intrigue everyone but it sure intrigued me. It might be the right book for me but it wouldn’t be for everyone.

Blackout by Robison Wells, by Ethan Humphrey, 400 words.

             Black out

I recently finished reading Robison Wells' Blackout, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. I rarely enjoy every book I read, but it attracted me right away. Blackout has mystery and action, which is exactly what I love in a book. It is set in a world where a mysterious virus has bestowed people with new abilities, and not everyone is using them for good.

Fast-paced novels with a twist are Robison Wells' specialty. Even in a science fiction novel, Blackout makes the characters come to life and seem genuine. Robison's character development in this book was great. The characters were initially stereotypes of young people, but as they learned more about themselves and the context, they were forced to mature rapidly. It made me think about what I would have done in a situation like this. The characters were originally normals kids, but turned into superheroes and villains.

I was on edge and eager to read. Each chapter made me want to continue reading. I enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on next, particularly all of the betrayals and secrets. The book caused me to consider friendship, trust, and authority. I'm glad that I gave it a chance.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of it was the way the author used suspense. There were several points where I had no idea who to trust, and the story would take turns that I hadn't imagend. The abilities that the characters had were interesting, but the story was actually about how humans respond to frightening and crazy events. That made it more compelling than a standard superhero tale.

Blackout was such an exciting and intriguing book to read that had me thinking how humans handle fear and stress, and how we should trust the right people. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys books with action, mystery, and a touch of sci-fi.

Reading is a waste of time and not worth it. Some books are more interesting than others, but there are more downsides than benefits. Such as, harder to learn skills, harder to be interested, impossible to enjoy and an extreme waste of time. Seriously, who wants to sit down and look at words for hours when there are more exciting and useful things to do?

Reading is not a tool that needs to be sharpened. Reading isn’t something that can just be forgotten after a week or two. Reading is learned once and not twice. After year six, reading books in school is a waste of time, when we could learn new skills instead - skills that actually help us in the real world. Reading every day won't help all that much. While there are a few small benefits, doing something more active or visual would be way more helpful than reading. Time would be better spent learning practical things like building, cooking, or even coding.

Some books, like the one I’m reading now, are helpful but still not good. I’m reading a book about surfing, which is something I enjoy, but if I could watch a video on it, it would be a thousand times more helpful. How am I going to know or learn how to do something I’ve never seen before from a bunch of lousy words? Watching things gives you a real feel of emotion and lets you feel like you're there with the characters, creating an immersive experience that reading just can’t give you. Videos and physical learning help you understand things faster and more easily. Plus, they keep your attention better.

In the end, reading isn’t the best way to learn or have fun. It’s often slow, hard to stay focused on, and doesn’t show you how to do things clearly. Watching videos or learning by doing is usually much easier and more interesting. Reading might help a little, but most of the time it just feels like a waste of time compared to other options. There are better ways to learn and enjoy things, ways that actually work and make sense today.

The Boxer written by Nikesh Shukla by Ethan Jones (Word count 348)

The book I am reading is called The Boxer by Nikesh Shukla. The Boxer was published on the 27th of June 2019. It tells the powerful story of a teenage boy who becomes the victim of racial discrimination and how he learns to stand up for himself. The main character is a boy named Sunny who lives with his mother in a small apartment. They don’t have a lot of money, and life is already difficult for them. One day, while Sunny is on his way home, he gets attacked by a group of older men at a train station. The attack is random and cruel, and it’s clear that it was based on his race. This moment changes Sunny’s life forever.

After being badly beaten up, Sunny feels scared, angry, and helpless. He doesn’t want something like that to happen again, so he decides to take action. Without telling his mum, Sunny signs up at a local boxing gym. He starts training every day, learning how to defend himself both physically and emotionally. Boxing gives Sunny confidence and a sense of purpose. It helps him not only become stronger but also gives him a way to cope with the trauma he has experienced. He also makes new friendships along the way and starts to understand more about himself and the world around him.

The Boxer is not just a story about sport, it’s a story about standing up against injustice. It shows how racism can deeply affect someone's life, but also how people can choose to respond with courage instead of fear. The book carries an important message, that discrimination should never be ignored and that everyone has the power to fight against it.

This book should inspire anyone who reads it to be more aware of racism and how it affects others. It teaches us that staying silent only helps those who spread hate. If we all stand together and support one another, people who discriminate will feel outnumbered and powerless. As a community, we can make a real difference and help stop racism from spreading.

I am currently reading a book called ‘The Boxer’. It was written by Nikesh Shukla and is such an interesting book. Published in 2019, It talks about tough topics such as racism. It is very inspiring and interesting. It also talks about problems someone might face because of their race like violence, rude words and discrimination. It goes into a lot of detail about the events in his life and how people either helped him or made it more difficult.

It follows the story of an immigrant boy named Sunny, he recently moved from London into a new city and is having trouble getting used to everything. His father is seriously ill and needs extensive care in a hospital in London but Sunny has a troublesome relationship with his father. His father always caused trouble in the family but he still needs the help and money so he can continue to afford medication.

While sitting at a train station, Sunny is eating a traditional Indian food his mother made him. However, 2 men come up to him and insult him for his ethnicity. They tell him to give them his food and when Sunny refuses they assault him. It was terrible and he was rushed to hospital. All of his friends try to make him feel better but he doesn’t like the attention. His mother tries to comfort him with her food and cooking.

Sunny decides to start boxing to prevent something like this from ever happening again. He doesn't even let his injuries heal. He deals with hardship but eventually pulls through. His own friends even turn their backs on him and eventually fights them in the ring. It is a truly inspiring story and has had a massive impact on me. He continues to get back up and fight even though he is knocked down over and over again which makes me feel like I can do anything.

Animal Farm By George Orwell, By Achie Davidson(word count 350)

The book I read this term was Animal Farm by George Orwell. He is a well-known author who wrote about politics and society. Animal Farm is a story about animals who take over a farm from their human owner, but it’s really about how power can be used in unfair ways. At first, I wasn’t that excited to read it because I thought it would be confusing or boring. But I was also interested to see how animals could be used to tell a story about real people and history.

As I read more of the book, I started to get more into the story. At the beginning, the animals seemed happy after kicking out Mr. Jones, and they thought things would get better. But slowly, the pigs started to take control and make all the decisions. Napoleon became more and more like a dictator, and the other animals were too scared or confused to stop him. I started to feel sorry for the animals, especially Boxer, because they were working so hard but not getting anything in return.

One important moment in the book was when the pigs moved into the farmhouse, even though they had promised not to. That showed how they were starting to act like the humans they got rid of. Another key part was when the pigs changed the rule “All animals are equal” to “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” This quote illustrates how the pigs deceived the other animals by altering the rules and employing clever language. It made me realise how people in power can lie and still pretend to be fair.

In the end, I thought Animal Farm was an excellent book. It was sad and unfair, but it had a strong message about leadership, trust, and power. I liked how the story was simple, but it also made me think about the real world. Even though reading can be hard sometimes, this book kept me interested, and I’m glad I read it. It made me want to read more stories that teach something important.

I think reading is alright. Sometimes I really enjoy it, and other times I don’t, depending on the book. If the story is interesting and the writing captures my attention, then I usually find myself enjoying it. It really depends on how well the book is written and how connected I feel to the characters and the events in the story. When a book is good, I find reading fun, engaging, and even exciting. But if the story is slow or I can’t relate to the characters, I get bored quickly. So for me, reading is not something I always love or always dislike. it really just depends on the book I’m reading at the time.

Right now, I’m reading a book called Soon by Morris Gleitzman. So far, I think it’s a pretty good book. It’s part of a series, and I have read the book that comes before it, so I already had a good idea of what the story was about. That helped me feel more connected to the characters and the plot. When I first started Soon, I wasn’t completely sure if I would like it, but as I kept reading, I got more into it. Now I do like it.

My experience reading Soon has been a good one so far. The story has a strong plot, and I find myself wanting to know what will happen next. There’s a lot of emotion and suspense in the book, which keeps me turning the pages. I think Morris Gleitzman does a really good job of writing realistic characters that feel like real people. I especially like how the characters have changed over time. Seeing how they grow and develop through the story has made me even more interested in continuing the book. I feel like I’m following them on their journey and watching them deal with different challenges.

Overall, I’d say reading Soon has made me like reading more. When I find a book like this that I actually enjoy, it reminds me that reading can be fun and rewarding. I’m glad I gave the book a chance, and I’m looking forward to finishing it and seeing how everything turns out.5

Reading is amazing, reading is what some people use to calm down after a hard day. It brings a group of people together. Reading can cause fun disputes and have people something to do.

With my reading I have had a pleasant experience with reading so far. Reading has been a great way for me to relax and be calm. Reading is an amazing thing for me and absolutely amazing but that's not the case for others. For others reading can be an infuriating, annoying task that they would rather do anything than do.

I have been obsessed with the Percy Jackson series that is made by Rick Riordan. I started reading this series when I was in year 5 and I was absolutely hooked straight away. Even though at the time I started reading that book, I hated reading. I was a kid hooked on TV. I took a break from reading half way through year six. Then when I got into High school I got back into it and I got hooked again. I read the first book of the heroes of olympus series and it was boring but it had a lot of great backstory for the future and introduced a whole new pantheon.

The book I am currently reading is called the House of Hades, the fourth book in the heroes of olympus series. This book is the continuation after in the last book we were left on a cliffhanger where percy and annabeth fall into tartarus to close the doors of death from both sides with the other people of the 7 and Nico go to close the doors of death. This book has had me on a rollercoaster of emotions starting off extremely excited then to bored for a bit, then i was back to happy.

In this book there are 8 main characters and 2 of them are stuck in Tartarus and 6 on the surface. The biggest point in this book is when Percy is fighting a goddess named Ankyls the Goddess of misery and she is beating him and he is almost dead from the poison and then he unlocks the ability to manipulate poison. He starts choking her with her own poison and he thinks in the book “He didn't want to stop. He wanted to choke this goddess. He wanted to watch her drown in her own poison. He wanted to see just how much misery Misery could take”. That is where I am currently up to and am excited to finish the rest of the book.

Reading can be really boring sometimes. I don’t understand why people spend hours reading books when there are so many other fun things to do. It feels like a waste of time! Yes, reading can help you learn stuff, but other than that, what’s the point? Most books are actually pretty boring, and I think over 75% of people would agree with me. Why would anyone want to spend so long reading something that doesn’t keep their attention?

At first, I didn’t think I would like The Fall by Jack Heath. I don’t usually enjoy reading, and action books aren’t really my thing. The story starts with Jarli waking up in a weird place, and then he falls down an elevator shaft. It was confusing at first, and I didn’t really get what was going on.

The setting is mostly underground, and sometimes I found it hard to picture what was happening. There were lots of twists, but sometimes it felt like too much was going on at once. Some parts didn’t really interest me, and I found it hard to stay focused at the beginning. But the more I read, the more I started to get into the story.

The short chapters made it easier to read, and after a while, I wanted to know what would happen to Jarli. He was a smart and brave character, and even though I didn’t love the story, I liked following his journey. Even though I didn’t love The Fall, it did help me enjoy reading a bit more. I didn’t think I’d finish it, but I did and I’m glad I gave it a try. It showed me that not all books are boring. I would give this book 7 out of 10. It’s not my favourite, but it helped me improve how I feel

I think that reading is relaxing. One of my friends said, “I don't get how people find reading entertaining at all. I mean, we already have phones nowadays, so why still use books to get information? The reason why people used reading and writing back in the olden days is that they didn’t have the technology that we have today. That is like asking for some bread that is expired and outdated instead of fresh bread”. I told him that the way I see reading is like training weights for your reading skills, you work out and your strength and muscles get stronger, same as reading, you read to train your brain and then when you read on your phone, you are already good at it.

Personally, my favourite book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone since it is what got me into reading and inspired me to read more. I am still reading it but, I can't wait to finish it. Before I started reading The Philosopher's Stone, I absolutely hated reading. It was probably one of the worst hobbies I could ever want to do. But now I don't mind reading as much anymore. I guess that reading kinda grew on me. I still like to scroll on social media from time to time and watch stuff on my phone, but it's nice sometimes to just chill with a book and not get distracted every other second. Not every book is great, but if you find a good one, then it's kinda hard not to keep reading.

That's what happened to me with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Now I don't hate reading like I used to. It even helps with school work, like when I am writing and understanding things better. So I believe that books are still pretty useful.

Reading isn’t always easy for me. Some days im into it but other times it just feels like a drag and I lose focus pretty quickly. But when i picked up Sam Kerr Australias Golden Girl by Simon Hughes I actually got into it more than i expected. I think what helped was that i already knew who Sam Kerr was. Shes a huge name in soccer and someone i look up to so that made me want to keep reading.

The book takes you through her life from when she was a kid all the way to becoming one of the best female soccer players in the world. It shows how she had to work really hard train nonstop and stay focused even when things got rough. At the beginning i was just kind of curious about what her story would be but as i kept reading i started to realise how much effort she put into chasing her dream. It made me think about how being successful in sport isn’t just about talent. Its about mindset commitment and pushing through tough times.

Reading can be either fun and exciting or sometimes boring. It really depends on what type of book it is and whether I like the story or not. I can like any book if it suits what I like. I really like action or comedy. The one I am reading right now is Billionaire Boy by David Walliams. I started reading this book about halfway through term 2, and I am halfway through the book now.

The book is about a kid who was poor. But then his Dad had a good idea and they became very rich very quickly. They went to a school, and he was bullied relentlessly. The reason is was that his dad owned a toilet paper business.

He changed schools to make friends at a public school where no one knew who he was, but he forgot his homework at home, and his dad dropped it off in a helicopter. Then everyone knew who he was.

Overall, I think my reading journey has been good and entertaining. So far, I like this book and I'm liking the plot. I think I only like reading when the book grabs my attention, though.

Then by Morris Glietzman (Word Count 415)

Reading can be taken both positively, or negatively this really depands on both your hobbies and intrests and if the book your reading follows those hobbies and intrests. Having a book that follows these intrestes is truly what makes a book engaging or not. Personally, one of my intrests is History, and the past. Thats what truly intrested me when reading this book. Digging and expanding my knowledges in this case the Holocaust. This is what had me so engaged in this book.

Then by Morris Gleitzman is the second book in the Once series. It continues the story of Felix, a young Jewish boy, and Zelda, a girl he rescued, as they try to survive during the time of the Nazis. Since I had already read Once, I was excited to read more about Felix and see what would happen next.

The book begins with the line, “Then we ran for our lives,” which immediately pulled me back into the scary and sad world Felix lives in. This start was full of emotion and reminded me why I liked the first book so much. I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen to Felix and Zelda. The story moves keeps a steady pace and the danger never really stops. Gleitzman adds more to the world he introduced in Once, showing how hard and scary life was during that time. He does this by constantly adding while also keeping the same emotive language.

There are many tense and emotional scenes. One example is when Felix says, “The bayonet stabs into the straw grazing my face.” This makes the reader feel like they are right there with him. One of the scariest parts is when a man tries to kidnap Felix and Zelda in the forest. They manage to escape, but it shows how dangerous their journey is. Later in the book, they are caught again, but this time, the person who finds them actually wants to help.

This moment is important because it shows that even in a time of war and fear, there were still kind people who wanted to do the right thing.

Overall, Then is a powerful and emotional story that continues Felix’s journey in a strong way. I think it is one of the best books in the series because the characters feel real and the story is full of feeling. It’s not just about surviving, but also about friendship, hope, and kindness, even during the darkest times.

Rafa by Rafael Nadal: (Word Count 350) Written by Emmett Plunkett

My book is called Rafa. It is a tennis book by Rafael Nadal about his career. I felt confident about commencing this book because it is on tennis, which is my favourite sport, and also one of my favourite players.

This book has definitely improved my reading skills and made me more eager to read at the start of the lesson. For reference, at the start of the year, I would read half a page in ten minutes, and by now I’m reading 3-4 pages. My feelings have remained the same throughout the whole book, which is engaging, interesting, and suspenseful. I have not got sick of the book at all.

Some key moments in this book are Nadal in the 2008 Wimbledon final - a match that John McEnroe called ‘the greatest match of tennis ever played’.

My feelings about reading:

I can only really read fact boos or world records. Other books for me are not entertaining or boring. Another exception is books on something I like, such as tennis or comedy. This makes it easier for me to focus because it is about something my brain likes. Not something it has no interest about. When books are on something I like, I find them consuming and entertaining.
