Evidence: Long shot of Kamaji working in the boulder room - he has multiple arms and there is lots of steam/ smoke and coals being burnt.
Explanation: The boiler room represents industry - the business that use precious resources (such as coal) to please consumers (customers at the bath house). When Chihiro tells Haku that he is the kohaku river, Haku remembers that his apartments had been built over. "I remember I was the spirit of the Kohaku river.
Explanation
The apartments were built not in harmony with the river. It was built over the river and destroyed it instead of being built harmoniously with the river. The apartments could have been built around the river and  used the river as a sustainable water source. However, they would need to make sure they use the river water source sustainably. Instead of working with the river the apartments have eliminated a sustainable resource, habitat and an opportunity to enjoy nature. Can we as humans develop with nature, not destroy it.
